Does any one eles have this problem ?
I posted awhile back about my female blue cream persian Sage coming into heat and not being able to get in touch with the breeder that had the stud. Well we found another breeder who had a black male. Boy is he pretty but dumb. on the couple times he has tried to mount her he finds himself not in the right place . more off to the side no where near where he should be for breedering to take place. she ends up mad with a sticky side
Also if you pick her up he will walk around the house meowing and looking for her, he also does this if she jumps up on her cat tree. He cant seem to find her. I must say tho its damn cute , almost killed myself laughing at him. Should I just leave them alone and cross my fingers and hope he gets the right idea ?
how long should I let this go on before I start thinking I need a new stud.
Thank you Holly and a very frustrated Sage

Sounds like he just needs to practice more, if he has never bred before then it might take a while before he gets it right. I would kepp them in a contained area while she is in heat, that he will try and try and try until he gets it right.

After I stopped giggling at your post, I got to thinking about my boy and girl the first time they were put together and well, I do remember how frustrating it was to sit and watch all the fumbling about that went on. I declare I wanted to reach in and assist after the first 15 minutes went by and they just couldn't seem to hook up. *LOL* But, they did get it finally and everything went alright from there.

You can't really just leave them alone because you will need to document that an actual breeding took place and of course, it is also good to journal the time and date so you have that info ... but maybe if you just sort of ignored them.

Which reminds me of the time my friend was "ignoring" a pair of her breeder cats who just weren't getting it right and then had the entire family over for some big, important holiday dinner ... well, those two cats all of a sudden got it and got it all over the living room floor, the kitchen counters, the sofa, the recliner and everywhere else including, from what I am told, dear old Great Aunt Millie's lap. *LOL*
