Can someone recommend a low-clay cat litter for a cat who is having bronchial problems? I need to get something with a low dust factor. Currently, I'm using Tidy Cats Crystal Blend. It says on the label that it has a "highly effective dust control system" in it Does that mean it's okay? Just wondered if someone would know. Thanks.

(BTW, we haven't established whether or not Penelope has Asthma but I'm going on that assumption for now and trying to eliminate possible irritants in my apartment).

I chose to use world's best or swheat Scoop for my girl with asthma...if you don't stand up high over the box while pouring it in, it cuts down on what dust there is, and she does best without perfumey litters with scented odor control crystals etc.

Thanks Pat&Alix. I'll try Swheat scoop and try pouring it in the way you said. Does it make a difference if I use a covered or uncovered litter box?

Great question! I have to think about changing Dori's litter since she possibly has asthma. (we find out Monday). I tried using World's Best but Dori wouldn't use it, she didn't like it at all. Can anyone describe the texture of Sweat Scoop? Is it similar to World's Best?

I don't use covered litter boxes, but I would think if there is anything kicked up when your cat is in the box, I'd switch to uncovered boxes (if she's a digger, try a highsided box (I swear mine were badgers in a previous life!)

It has a different smell, but yes, is fairly similar in texture. Sorry!

You can also use an old cup to scoop and pour the litter into the box. That's the method I use with WBCL and there hasn't been any dust yet. *knocks on wood*
