We recently re-homed 2 cats, one 18 months, one 5 years. The two cats were previously living together. We got them one of the scratching posts come climbing things and the problem is that the younger cat has become possesive over it and is attacking the older cat over it.

Does anyone have any advice over how we can nip this in the bud before it becomes too serious?

thanks in advance

I would just buy a second one and even a third, or just get a cat condo. They can play King of the Mountain and take off their aggression easily when climbing a tall sturdy cat condo. Alpha cat ends up on the top every time-

Hi Dave, welcome to TCS. I agree with hissy. In this case, more is better. It sounds like the 18 month old has established himself as the alpha cat and the 5 year old cat needs a place that he feels is his own.
