Well, if she's like any of us, he probably mistreated her cat...

That's the sweetest thing in the world... To spend $17,000 on an ad is a little extreme tho... I dont think I would ever doubt a guys love for me if he did that... Then again... I dont see any "I love you, Liza" newspaper ads...

That was in our local paper, the original ad here in Jax. We were just talking about that today. I think it's sweet that he did that, but he must have done something really wrong to to feel the need to spend that much on an attempt to get her back

I would like to see the ad! He must have some money to be able to do that (I would think).

It was a very large (full page) ad. It has a drawing of a man kneeling at a woman's feet with what was supposed to look like a sheet of paper and a handwritten letter on it reading "Marianne, Please believe the words in my letter, they are true and from my heart. I can only hope you will give me the chance to prove my unending love for you... Life without you is empty and meaningless. Please, please please call me! I love you with all my heart! Larry" I just can't believe it was so big!

$17,000 on an apology? I'd be so mad... "look, you screwed up... wasting 17k to say you're sorry AGAIN doesn't help!"

He could've bought her some nice jewelry instead... maybe a car? Ya know?

I keep my eye out for a follow up to the story in the paper. I am sure there will be one

I still can't believe it cost $17000 to run an ad in the paper. Ok it was full page but it was run in the Tuesday paper, not even the Sunday paper!

Unless of course one of the problems she had with him was public displays of affection.
If so, then he just had to.

No kidding! It would not make me any more interested in being with someone just because they squandered that much money on a public ad that would have embarassed the heck out of me!

To me, not having 17,000 dollars... makes that guy seem insane to spend it on an ad. At least get her something with some resale value and if she refuses the item then at least he could return it. :p
