No, never have although some has been temptingly good smelling and looking. I did eat some homemade mouse and rat treats once, they had bird seed in them.. they didnt stay down either. The rats liked them though of course.

Yes when I was a child we feed our cats Meow Mix and my friend and I decided to try it. It was salty, too saltly for me, but other than that I don't remember it being gross or anything. I can't imagine trying the wet food though, that stuff always smells gross.

I've tried canned food, though I have to say that I buy mainly cat food that's considered "human grade", and basically consists of chopped meat and/or fish, water, and perhaps a little rice or carrots. It's pretty bland.

I tried Dori's canned food once. But I also feed her food that is human grade and there isn't anything in there I wouldn't eat myself.. All though, I don't exactly see myself grabbing a spoon and a can of cat food

I haven't tried cat food, but did try Science Diet K/D for dogs when I worked at a vets. It was pretty good-just boiled chicken and rice-if bland.

On a drunken dare I ate a kitty treat. I think it was the soft Whiskas chicken flavor...I'm not sure. It was actually pretty bland. You can bet your @ss I chugged away after that incident.

Our stomachs are not as acidic as a cats stomach, so we don't combat or break down bacteria from food as effectively as cats do. Pet food has much lower processing standards, so for that reason alone I wouldn't try pet food. Who knows what kind of bacteria has grown in the food? Maybe it won't make you immediately sick, but who knows that it doesn't carry something less noticeable, yet dangerous, such as helicobacter pylori?

OK, I have been tempted to try it...and now there is just NO WAY! And I don't EVEN want to know what a helicobactor pylori is!

My boyfriend licks the spoon every time he feeds the cats. They eat fancy feast salmon flavor. It totally grosses me out. I still love him though even though he's a bit weird..haha

Well today I just happened to dig up a couple of articles on helicobacter to pm to Susi regarding her endoscopy thread. Nobody is going to like this third article I found. It mentions that kissing your cat puts you at risk for getting helicobacter. Now it totally makes sense to me. The food processing standards for pet food is very low, which increases the chances of helicobacter being present. Cats' stomachs handle it better, so it doesn't matter to them as much, but us however... well we just are more susceptible by the nature of our stomachs I think.

Oh yeah, and helicobacter pylori is a bacteria that causes over 90 percent of stomach ulcers inlcuding heartburn. It can be treated with antibiotics, so it is curable.

Puerto Rico... land of rice and beans.
Ok.... I once, prior to serving the canned food, I dipped my finger a bit and tasted it.... it kinda tasted nice... but there's one thing for certain, to be chicken cat food, it tastes nothing like chicken!
