Those are amazing! I have to admit though, I opened the thread with a wee bit of caution, was afraid of what kind of melons I was going to be seeing!~

Snicker. I was thinking the same thing, hoping the guys I work with weren't looking over my shoulder.

but I have to admit, I was kind of wary of what I was going to see too
Have to admit though, those were absolutely breathtaking! (sorry bad pun!?)

And how does one decide to be a watermelon artist?

Very impressive pictures. Thanks for sharing.

I guess the same way one decides to be a pumpkin artist.

Glad to see I wasn't the only one!

They really are beautiful.

They are really something and for all of you who thought that it referred to something else.....shame on you......that thought never entered my mind!

Sure we do! ......but truthfully, Charlie has a book and garnishing/carving set to do it with........
OMG! That's impressive. I love the one with the turtle and the swan, but they're all lovely... but.. now I'm hungry...
Well anything normal I was going to say would make me sound like my mind was in the gutter, so... they look pretty cool? That's sounds safe enough.
Those are incredible... I always wished I could learn how to do that... especially the chocolate sculptures that the guy on The Food Network does... But the melon sculptures are so cool... If Adrian and I ever got married (yeah right), we'd have the Chinese Dragon one... He's big into Chinese art!...

Actually I prefer to carve a rutabaga. Not really--I just like to say "rutabaga." I don't even know if I'm spelling that correctly...
I agree that rutabaga is an excellent word. Some words just seem to feel good in the mouth, don't they?? Actually, now that you mention it, so would that watermellon....

Yeah those replies were pretty funny, but I wanted to fool everyone into thinking that I am well behaved at all times.

Well it was quite hard to resist not jumping on to that one! I'm glad other members filled in the blanks first or I might have cracked.
