New kitty Fellini has the WORST breath ever. I mean, he gets two feet from you and meows or opens his mouth, and you want to die. What I can I do about this. He was at the vet, no bad teeth or anything. They are dirty, but how can I take care of that at home? Are there any products, techniques, brushing that I can do at home, minimal cost, and clean his teeth and make his breath better? He eats only hard food... And is about two years old... If that helps anything. His gums are healthy pink.

I had the same problem with Kionu. His breath was so foul, I would literally gag when he came near me. I took him to the vet, his gums were healthy but his teeth were dirty. As recommended by my vet, I use Kitty Tooth Wipes or Kitty Dental Swabs by Petkin.

At the kitty's beck and call
How long have you had kitty? Could it be what Fellini was eating before. When we brought Lily home she smelled sweet and had been eating Hills S/D Kitten at the breeders. We couldn't get that in our town and she was eating Iams Kitten (both dry foods) for a couple of days. He breath and coat began to smell quite strongly. We got into the city and bought Hills S/D Kitten and she smells sweet again!

That was my thought as well. It's possibly her tummy and not her teeth. Have a vet check for possible tummy problems.

How old is Fellini? If he's in the 5 to 6 month range, he'd be teething, and that would explain the foul breath. My vet described it as "rotton hamburger", and it fit the decription of L.S.'s bad breath perfectly. As L.S. got older the smell went away on it's own.

Fellini is about 2 years old or a year and a half.

I know exactly how you feel!! My kitty Oscar's breath was so horrible, the only way I could describe it is that it smelled like the smell you smell when you walk down a fishing pier (dead, rotting fish in the sun
) Anyway, I took him to the vet and my vet could not find a darn thing wrong with him. He suggested that I change his food and I did and it worked. Maybe you could just switch brands of food...just a thought. Hope the halotosis problem resolves itself!!

Ditto on the food thing. I switched Smokie's food once and her breath was so disgusting and the change was immediate. I switched to something else and the smell went away almost immediately (same day). I'd switch the food and then if there isn't any change in a day or two, definitely get a check up. Good Luck!

Bakker's breath is pretty nasty too. He is teething however my vet suggested switching food too as he is gassy and his fur smells-however that is easier said than done. I didn't think he was so fussy.
