I haven't been online in a while...Kids gave me a computer for xmas so I am back in business.

We have a blizzard comming.
I am worried about my 7 little friends that I watch over. Our weather has been so bitter. I feed them twice a day but they won't let me get near them. I know they go into our garage at night and I fixed a bed in there when the weather was warmer. Tonight they are forcasting a possible 3 FEET with hurricane winds and more temps below zero. Say a prayer that God will watch over all his little creatures.

Brenda...I belong to the feral cat yahoo group and many of the caretakers there are concerned about their cats. One said she has been feeding her cats a "stew" of heated cat food with hot water to make it a stew and laying out straw.

There biggest concern will be warmth which can be easily provided by laying down straw. Boil up some chicken pieces, save the broth, strip out the meat and give them a type of gruel to keep them warm. Freeze the leftover broth and nuke it as needed to pour over their food.

We have 36 inches + with 6-8 foot drifts. I have only seen one cat all day. My daughter cleared off the back deck several times and we placed a plastic ben sideways and put the food inside to keep it was getting snow. I have watched but only seen the one. I assume the rest are either in the garage or out in the barn. We haven't got dug out yet so if they are smart they will be a little hungry but safer to stay put.
The chicken idea is good but I also put a little white rice in it.

Today the sun came out and I was happy to look out and see all my little friends. They had been hold up inside the garage and came out after we got the driveway shoveled. The drifts are so high they haven't been able to find their way around the house to the deck. I placed a bowl of food at the garage entrence and a few minutes later it was empty. Guess if they made it through that storm they will be okay.

Just went out with a little warm milk and all my babies are there except for the tiny gray one. It was the littlest one in the bunch and I am worried about that one. I have always called it "Gray Baby" because it was so little. The others appear to be okay and were happy to see me.

I'm glad they are ok and I pray that little gray one is too!
I always say many prayers for the poor animals out in this extreme weather. It breaks my heart when I think about it. My mom has a black and white kitty named Baby who has been outside (her choice) for the past 5 years now and she also gives her hot soup when it gets cold. Luckily, Baby has been inside for the last four days! Yay! My mom scooped her up Friday night and she's been hibernating behind the microwave ever since. Now, if she would only want to remain inside. I know though she will want to go back outside now that it's warming up. I want to pet her sooo bad, she's so cute!

Sad News.........."Gray Baby" didn't make it through the storm, and "Curious George" was just found dead in the garage. I had noticed he had not been seen for a couple of days. We placed a wheelbarrow inside the garage against the inside wall of the garage and lined it with foam and an old quilt when the storm hit we left the garage door up a few inches. "Georgie" was found in the wheelbarrow. The blizzard was a bad one but I think the temps were what got to him.

I still have the three black ones and the multicolor one that I call "Princess".

Oh.... I am so sad for Grey Baby and Curious George... What a sad story--and you are/were SO nice to them. YOU and your family were the ONLY good things present in their little lives. There will be "extra stars in your crown" one day... Sleep in peace, Grey Baby and little Curious George....
