I know this movie came out a while back but we just got around to watching it last night. Has anyone seen it? Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

I know! We actually started fastforwarding through it... and concluded we probably would've walked out after the first 5 minutes of it. The beginning of the movie looked like something I or some of my classmates could have made in our film classes.

As for the ending... WARNING TO THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT: DON'T LOOK IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT: do you think she drowned herself on purpose or a shark got her? Because I thought it was latter but in reviews I keep reading she drowned herself?

Ive seen it and not really impressed. But it is a true story. I think she basically gave up after seeing the guy being ripped up by the sharks.

In the real life story, all they found was her wetsuit with holes, her BCD and a diveboard saying that their boat left them behind.

Its really disturbing as it does happen.

It IS disturbing that it happens - which is why I don't plan on doing anything like that any time soon!

Did they ever find his body? Weird that they just found her wetsuit...

I'm still a bit... put off by the movie. The nude scene in the bedroom? What was the point of that? Their acting was stiff, and if you ask me, I didn't care much about them. And I don't like that it was "based on real events" because if they died, obviously no one can know what happened between the time they went off the boat and the end, ya know? So by the time I realized the ending, I was irritated.

Done venting.

I guess it was the obligatory nude scene
But they didnt have to go all the way. It made no sense - to have the nude scene and then no romping - so what was the point?

Their bodies were never found.

My good friends, including the one that passed away recently were avid scuba divers - they said that on their trips, they are very cautious, especially with deaf people so they feel safer that way. Like their first thing on their mind is "Wheres the deaf people??" And they said that when they go in the water, they have a board that says the name, what time they went in, and after they come out, they put down the time spent in the water and the depth. I like it that way! I have tried scuba diving and I hope to get certified sometime in the near future - it really is an awesome experience, and theres so much to see, its like another whole world down there!

Oooh I hope you do get certified then! I don't think I'd enjoy it much - I prefer no fish in my swimming water... but it might be nice to try someday in shallow water, if that makes sense.

Freaky that their bodies were never found - I guess it has to be assumed that a shark made dinner out of them. Although here's another question:

She got nibbled on by something, barricuda or whatever, and was bleeding. However HE is the one that got bitten by the shark? Not to mention the fact that she was always flailing about... I thought sharks were attracted to blood so why wouldn't they have gone after her? Do you think he died from the sharks or because that one bite caused a massive loss of blood combined with dehydration?

As for the nude scene... my boyfriend and I were so shocked by the poor quality of it that by the time that scene came up we were like, did we rent a porn movie? And yeah, it didn't make any sense to have it in there if they weren't doing anything about it.

I'd been wanting to see it for ages too... not sure how worth it is but if you see it, let us know what you think!

We saw it at the theatre, felt like a waste of money. I will say it is compelling, and sad because it is true, but lord is it boring. I think she sacrificed herself to the sea, understanding that she couldn't beat its power and all the creatures in the ocean that were after her. If you stay through the end (I heard) they show fisherman catching a huge shark and when they gut it they find something of hers that was a personal effect? But we didn't wait that long-

We did see that MA, where they open up the shark. Kinda nasty... they found their camera that they used to take pictures while they were out scuba diving.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought it was boring - all the reviews I read made it sound good!
