Finally! Mrs. Black got spayed on January 7,2005!!!

She came through the surgery just fine. She has seemed a little depressed since then but she seems to have perked up in the past couple of days. I explained to her that she would not have to have any more babies. I don't know if that made her depressed or not. She was and is an exceptional mother and seemed to enjoy it a lot as she even nursed other kittens(some of them rather large)that weren't even hers. Anyway she deserves a break. She has been a baby machine for far too long. Now she can just relax and enjoy life and her grown children. One of her daughters, Brooke, was also spayed at the same time.
She is doing just great. She bounced back very quickly but then she is much younger too. And she has never been a mother(thank goodness). Now she never will be.

Good job Nan! Nice to see that some of the cycle is being brought up short. Good luck with the rest of the cats.

Congrats! It is so nice to hear shes doing well after surgery!

I regret having our KC spayed as she is so pretty and cute. I think she would have made such a great mommy.. but alas, her cries when she was in heat was just not something a human should have to tolerate and we elected for the spay. Oh well, there are plenty of other kitties to love even if they are not her kittens. Right now we are trying to get her to open up to Buddy our newest rescued kitty but she is not to fond of the idea.

Was he much of a complainer when she wanted to find a date? If so how did you tolerate it?

I never regret having my girl spayed...I'm sure she would have been a great mom...but with 73,000 cats and kittens PTS in Virginia in 2003....I am happy I had her fixed.
