Have you ever experienced it? I was on my way to work this morning on the freeway, and someone the lane to the left of me stoppd abruptly for some reason, and the guy behind him had to slam on his brakes. Well, all of a sudden, the guy behind speeds up and pulls in front of the first car, and stops abruptly, as if to say, SEE, HOW DO YOU LIKE IT? Fingers were flying and I could see that obsenities were flying, although you couldn't hear it cause it's like 10 degrees and noone has thier window down. That second guy could have caused a serious accident and it just amazes me how people are.

I've been flipped off a couple of times in my life, and I can honestly say that whatever I did was not intentional like they seem to think it was.......

My knees turn to jelly when that happens!

My Mum had a bad experience when she was going into a 30mph limit. People always drive fast through there, but there are kids and schools around, so we make sure we go at the limit.

A guy was tailgating Mum and he started to sound his horn. Then he pulled infront of her and did the speeding up, then braking thing. He was shouting and swearing at her the whole time.

Then, at the traffic lights, he pulled up next to her and shouted all sorts of obsenities at her then sped off.

I personally think it uses too much energy getting so angry over nothing! And as they say, More Haste, Less Speed!!

I have indicated and pulled into the curb to collect some friends and a guy behind got annoyed. He reversed down the road, stopped next to my car and was about to get out
Luckily one of my friends was a 6"2 Hockey player, so the guy went away - with wounded pride no doubt!

I'm guilty of road rage. If I'm going the speed limit or even 5 miles over and some jerk is riding my arse, I'll slow down to a turtle crawl until they pass me, then I speed up and ride their butt with my high beams on. I only do it for like a mile to prove my point, then I lay off.

That's pretty much the only road rage I have, other than passing people who go so dang slow in the passing lane on the highway that others have to start passing them in the right lane...that's when I use my hands and point to my lane for them to move over.

This happened a long time ago, in the late 70's but my now ex and I were on our way to work really early in the morning, on Pacific Coast Highway going past the Edison Plant headed for Costa Mesa. Don gunned the van and passed this car in front of us, he wasn't going slow, but Don was a show-off and loved to speed. So he passes the guy and cuts in front of him to quick with our van. This angered the man and he moved over to pass us and as he got level with our front windows, he raised a handgun and moved his hand (like he was firing it) but thank God he didn't! I screamed and Don slammed on his brakes, and the guy sped on by.

Don got the license number of the car, and stopped to make a call to the state troopers. As we were headed up the hill to Balboa, we saw the cops had stopped this person and surrounded his vehicle.

Because of this one incident, I try to keep my temper in check and remain a courteous driver. Even when getting behind Sunday drivers who think 10mph is the accepted speed on all the roads.

Oh MA how scary! Not like I'm saying what you went through wasn't a bit freaky too Susie!

I grew up in Houston and now live in San Antonio... and I keep in mind the number of people who carry handguns with them when I'm driving. I get mini spurts of anger when I'm driving and get cut off... but I love jamming out to music while I'm in the car so it usually keeps me pretty mellow, which helps me from getting road rage!

now i could tell you a story that happened last monday....

We were driving and i was in a dase, i was a passenger in the back seat but i always have to watch the road ahead of me...

we were going at 60km/hr and all of a sudden i see this old granpa with a dog in the middle of the road and we nearly ran him over! we swerved and the poor man had to dive (atleast looked liked it) .. well he was lucky his dog pulled him just in time.
i was screaming
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!! i was in total shock.
Lucky my bf had taken a security driving course and managed not to crash into any other cars or people!

Of course the man called the police and he was very angry to see that my bf only got a 30 euro fine.

But i have to agree with the reckless driving on the freeways.
here the far left lane is to speed as high as possible and who ever is going slow infront of you has to move.
*doesnt like the site of driving at 200 and people in the way arent going to move*

I hate it when people taill gate me! I drive with the flow of traffic, so I can only go as fast as the person a safe distance in front of me. I drive a huge 1985 Oldsmobile, and I will slam on my brakes if someone is riding my bumper. The slightest little bump will deploy some airbags, but in that big car, I don't even feel a little bump. I have give several bad drivers a face full of airbag. It is their own fault, so in addition to the airbag, they get a ticket.

I don't know why people get P.O.'d when they are driving. It's idiotic. If you are late, you are late. Just slow down and relax for Pete's sake!

Yes I have, and like you I don't deliberately do "anything" to make the other driver mad, especially here in CA where they are liable to shoot you for "inconveniencing" them!! On the lighter side though, check this out
http://forums.about.com/n/mb/at.asp?...CD5&frames=yes at least it will give you a lighter perspective!

Personally, I find most people misplace their brains when they get into the car. We have had several road rage shootings here in San Diego lately (I remember when that was a common thing up in the LA area). If someone tailgates me and doesn't back off I start to slow down to the speed limit (yes, I speed) so they'll go around me and get away from me. Now if someone pulls some stupid thing around me and I can't slow down to get away I'll speed up to get away. I have pulled the pull around and put on the brakes move, but I just tap them and then speed away, I don't slam them on and come to a stop and I only do it when the person in front of me obviously did it on purpose (and unfortunately that does happen out here). Otherwise I just try to keep up with traffic and watch out for the other drivers.

The other day my supervisor mentioned her son's job required him to spend a lot of hours on the road. And he has to do a lot of driving in the Twin Cities metro area which can get very difficult. She didn't mention any specific incidents, but just said all the driving her son did was causing him to have less and less patience with all the other drivers ariound him, and any little thing really annoyed him...
Doesn't sound like a good situation to me at all.

I had a guy get really angry at me for some reason, and he began flashing his lights, blowing his horn. I thought maybe he had an emergency, so I pullled over to let him by. He stopped behind me and got out of his car. I waited until he was almost to my car, then I pulled out and drove away. By the time he got back to his car and out into traffic I was long gone. I still have no idea what I did to make him so angry.

That is scary! I heard of a girl who was chased down and beaten because some guy thought she gave him the finger. All she was doing was waving. She had to go to the hospital.
