I haven't voted yet, still tinking about it!

Reading everyone elses posts I am beginning to get fears of being the thread killer
I think this is giving me fears

I will add to the poll when I have worked out what my fears are!!

actually i had started a thread a while ago and noone replied when i saw the number of people had viewed it and i was going insane!

I got so worked up over it that hissy ended up merging it into another thread! thank you hissy

ANother thing i have to keep in mind about posting on TCS is the vocabulary that we use.
IN some countries some words are not bad at all... but in others its like the worst thing you can say!!

Im sure plenty of people here think i am an idiot

But i find TCS very comforting (sp?) i was able to write things on here and get some great advice from people.

Oh yes and i have also realised i have been writing so ewwwwwwish! i mean i cant believe people would even reply without falling asleep!! lol

i love to be the last poster! I always thought it was a compliment saying that my post was so enlightening that nothing else needs to be said.. Eep, is it a BAD thing??

[edited to add]

and the thing that freaks me out most about posting is that people will misunderstand what i say because i am a very sarcastic person and that doesn't translate well with text. Sometimes people jump on me for something and I have to try to read my post from a 3rd party point of view until I understand exactly what they are complaining about and by then they already have a vendetta against me so no amount of explaining will make the relationship normal again.

and also there are so many times a day when i start a post and it just gets way too personal and I have to forgo it.. but I'm always worried I will let something out. When I was in highschool one of my "friends" who was trying to dig up dirt on me searched all of my message boards until she found some posts, with fake names and everything, and it was the hugest mess.. Although I don't think I know anyone pyscho enough to do that NOW, there's always a chance anything in writing can come back to bite you in the butt so I try to keep my personal life off the net.

I'm one of those who voted that people might get sick of seeing my posts. I don't want to bore anybody to tears, or sound like a broken record.

This is a really interesting discussion and poll.

Um, by answering this are we giving out too much information?

I wouldn't say I have "fears", more like things I think about and am concerned with. One thing I do think about is like Anna - I am a very sarcastic person and sarcasm doesn't translate into type well, and there's only so many
you can use without that becoming as annoying/offensive as the posts.
I do worry that people will take my sarcasm as a literal statement.

I hesitate to post on IMO many times because I can see both sides of the issue, but it comes out looking like I have no opinion at all. Also, when I do side one way or the other, I don't want to offend anyone.

All and all, though, I don't have a lot of fear posting on TCS. I post on a work forum and those people have a lot to learn from this bunch!

I also post on a news forum and there are SO many people there that IMO are mean and rude. We don't have that here. THANK YOU ALL!!!

Actually, I'm not very afraid to post on TCS - it's actually one of the nicest, least catty (oh, hahaha, the irony
) forums I've been on (there are some I've been on where I'm afraid to post lest I get my head bit off, others where people get offended WAY too easily and I'm afraid to offend someone and then be scolded for it, but not here). I do get a bit scared that I will bore or annoy people with my posts (I guess that would fall under the people getting sick of seeing me post one) or my pictures, but other than that none of those things really worry me.

I don't really have a "fear" but I think concerns would be a better word.

Being in the corporate world, the written word is so important so I'm always using spell-check. I sometimes wonder if people want someone to correct their spelling for them in a PM.

I also think you forgot a FEAR....spending every waking moment glued to the monitor when you're supposed to be working.

You know, being a mod as long as I have, I have never had a complaint from a member that read:

"Could you please warn this member about her postings? She is soooooo boring!"
People get those fingers going and post!
