need help! cat bleeding...???

Hi, i just need someone to help me regarding my "possible" pregnant cat. She is under a year old, but the last day or 2 i have noticed patches of blood all over the house and have tracked it down to one of my cats. she is having vaginal bleeding, and taking a closer look at her think she may be pregnant. he belly is a little bigger than normal and her nipples are more swollen than normal. however is bleeding a normal part of pregnancy in cats, or is she just 'on heat' . either way im concerned with the blood and quite worried. can anyone give me any advice, it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Ellie..is is possible to take her to a vet?? They would be able to tell you whether she is pregnant.

It almost sounds like shes having complications or simply fat and not pregnat at all and having that time of the month. I do not have much experience with either situation as we had our female spade because she drove us nuts.. but a call to the vet would not be out of line, even if only to ask some questions if you don't get fast enough answers here. Granted, most people here always say take them to the vet anyways, grin. Bottom line, I know you dont want to loose her or a possible litter, do what you can and I wish you all the best possible for her and her possible litter!

Vaginal bleeding is a cause for alarm, please get your cat to a vet. Cats don't bleed when they are in season like dogs.

Sam is right - it isn't normal for a cat in any stage to have vaginal bleeding unless something is wrong. A vet visit is called for here and the sooner, the better.

Ellie - You need to get your cat to the vet ASAP!!! I have had many litters in the past and bleeding is NOT apart of pregnancy of a cat. There may be some bleeding afterwards but nothing more than a teaspooon or so and they usually lick it up before it gets on anything. She could have an infection and it will get worse if not treated! Good Luck!
