William Daniel Haran has joined the family! He's a man-about-town tuxedo guy: black — with white chest, paws, moustache and whiskers. He's very friendly, but Michaela and Tonya are not thrilled with his presence. They'll get used to him, though. They'd better!

Billy has lived in the environs of this apartment building from before I moved in during August of 2000. For a few months now, he's been coming around to see the new Mr. Softy; and I've left food and water outside the door for him. I'm very glad he's spending longer periods of time indoors with us, as Halloween is approaching and autumn is bringing chilly nights.

Thanks for the well-wishes! Sorry, but no photographs yet exist of Bill; but as soon as I can arrange a photo opportunity with him, I'll make a picture and post it here.

Mr. Cat,

Great job! Love the name. Don't worry, pretty soon your two girls will probably be fighting OVER him.

I really appreciate everybody's kind remarks! Thank you! (Tonya, the computer-science cat here, has been reading these messages of greeting for Bill and is re-thinking her earlier opposition to his presence.)

I wish I could take those kittens! But, alas, we in this apartment building are allowed no more than two cats per residence — and I've now three: Although, since Bill actually spends the balance of his time out of doors, at this point it's more like 2½.

Thank you! Although Bill isn't a full-time resident of our dwelling, he's in here often enough to be an official family member. As soon as I can afford to do so, I'll snag him and together we'll go see the cat doctor for an examination and innoculations.

Joe, Great name, Bill the cat...I always did love that cartoon strip!
You really are a softie, but then I guess we all are when it comes to cats!
He is really lucky to have found a spot in your heart, and I know you will take good care of him, and your girls will get used to him in time.

Thanks! Progress is already at hand: All three cats are just now napping in the same room, in plain sight of one another. Nobody's hiding!

I love to hear about cats finally getting along. Bill sounds cute, kinda like my Smokey only he is a grey tuxedo. He is a lucky cat to have found your home.

Lady Hawk, perhaps I spoke too soon! Tonya has resumed her hiss-and-growl policy toward Bill. For his part, Bill has tired of this attitude and now springs at Tonya when she's grouchy; then she runs into the bedroom to hide after a parting hiss. Tonya has always had, initially, a grumpy attitude toward "new" cats. Perhaps it's her way of testing them? Well, Bill may be smaller than Tonya but he's got that outdoor-cat aura of experience and fitness — "I'll be friendly but don't think I'm a pushover, or else!"

Miss Whitney, thanks for your well-wishes! I love that image you attached to your post: It's Bill, exactly!

This is good news they are establishing boundaries. he is just letting Miss Tonya know that she can push only so far, she on the other hand is still getting the last hiss in, even if it is in retreat mode.

Patience Mr. Cat , I stand by my belief you are doing a great job, but alas not having fur you can not join the negotiations.

Hang in there

Tish
