Continuing around the market,we’ll grab some lunch at one of the eateries scattered throughout the market area and find a place to park and eat. Come, let’s see what there is...

There’ll never be enough room for all of us in the food court...

so, feel free to find a place outside and eat by the water...one caution, though, and that’s that eating here by the water brings a new meaning to “keep your eyes on your fries” – the seagulls would be only too happy to help

That little ferry, the Aquabus, is one of about 20, I think, that provides a connection between the downtown peninsula, which you can see across the water, and Granville Island

http://www.aquabus.bc.ca/home.html

And here’s another entertainer by the water...

If you’d rather sit down and be served, there are lots of regular restaurants, too. You might recognize The Keg, which originated in North Vancouver. The Granville Island location was one of the early ones, back in the 70s...

or you might prefer – wait for it...

*phew* Still catching up!

Laureen, thank you for such a wonderful tour! I am sorry I couldn't be there a lot, but I have just caught up and it was so much fun!

Fran, the sea by you is gorgeous! Plus what a wonderful market?! The produce looks so good!
Does Rob's Mum need a housemate? I'd love
to look out at the boats on the water and admire her garden!

Got to run, will visit again as soon as I can - falling behind in everything!

Why, thank you!

Gastown, eh? Well, as it happens there's a stop there on tomorrow's agenda -- that do?

For the moment, I think it's probably time to move on to our next things for today...

Island Group! Are we sufficiently fed? OK – now we head out for a longish drive. We’re going to the Comox Valley, we’ll be staying just south of Courtenay at the Kingfisher Spa, but before we get there, we’ll see some lovely country. Here are some views taken at the Malahat Lookout. The first pic is not too good – it was kind of dark and had to be tweaked a fair bit for not a lot of improvement, but ...

and then looking over the water...

...and we’ll stop in Chemainus, to see the world famous Murals...

Do take the tour of the Murals...

Vancouver group! Everybody finished with lunch? OK, let’s take a quick look around craft places ...

Wood carving and handmade wood furniture...

They also have some neat carved lapel pins...souvenir, anyone?

...pottery...

...hats...

...there are lots more...

OK, folks, say goodbye to Granville Island – we have places to go...

It's funny --when another member lives so close by and knows the area you just kinda wait with baited-breath to see what will come up on the tour, and you've done magnificently. Your photos are wonderful and really capture the magic and culture of the area!! Just had to tell you that.
Now I will re-join the bus and behave.

I'll give you all a few more minutes to browse the market and drive up the Island (while I go get something to eat) and then put up the next bits of stuff...See ya in a few.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Sorry I've been gone so long, I just couldn't drag myself out of the Market back there, what incredible produce and other goodies they have! Lunch was wonderful, Fran! The My Secret Garden was fantastic, and Sierra really enjoyed her fresh fish of the day!
Now to wonder around this place a while before it's time to move on!

Ready to proceed, everyone?

For the Island travellers, who must have weary bums by now, a lovely spot in the Courtenay area is the Tsolum River. It runs right by Rob’s sister’s house...

And for the Vancouver group, it's our turn to do a bit of “garden stuff”...

Van Dusen Botanical Gardens

Queen Elizabeth Park

Then... for the chocoholics, we’ll drop by Chocolate Arts...

Have a look at this display...

aaaaaaaaaa...truffles...

One of my faves...

It’s also a great source for all the chocolate you’ll ever need for cooking – beautiful stuff! And Greg Hook, the owner/chocolatier, does classes, too.

Don’t forget (I should worry about this?
) to stock up on goodies to take with you.

Sorry I was stuck at Granville! I just couldn't bear to leave it! Fran do you know if the little bead shop is still there? They always had the neatest beads I've seen! I was had 3 cat beads from there that were all hand-painted!
Yay! Gastown!

Fran you are going to have a hard time dragging all the chocoholics away from Chocolate Arts!

Oh, there's plenty!
And if you're pining for it when you get home (as you might well be
) you can always visit the web site http://www.chocolatearts.com and order on line. They'll send it to you.

Isn't the river pretty? It's a while since we've been to Rani's place -- usually when we go to the Island we congregate around his Mum -- and so do his sisters (and his cousins and his aunts
-- for anyone who recognizes the quote
)

It is indeed!! Neat, neat place! Just trying to think of the name and it's not coming to me, but, yes, it's there.

Yay! Gastown!
