the Dallas skyline

The 50-story tower is topped by a three-level geodesic sphere that houses a restaurant, observation deck and revolving lounge. The tower is illuminated at night.

The elevator trip to the top takes 68 seconds and the structure weighs 23,600 tons. It takes 55 minutes for the restaurant to revolve once.

Big Tex, the mascot (so to speak) of the State Fair!
original version, circa 1952

current version - he talks, too!

ok, are we ready for a new place?
Dallas is infamous for being the site where John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. Oswald fired from the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository. it's now a museum about the assassination!

this is Dealey Plaze, where the motorcade was when the shots were fired... the school book depository is the large orange building in the upper center right

the infamous grassy knoll

anybody here see the movie, JFK?

No, I never did. I really didn't want to see what Hollywood would do to the event. Someday, maybe.
