We are nearing Chester now!
In the centre of the City you will find Chester Clock - this is a popular meeting place!


Then there are the historical Rows. These are the split tiered buildings - that now hold the shops, pubs, bars and restaurants.
There are a lot of small boutiques on the rows, selling individual and unusual items.


Here are the Roman Ruins. Chester is one of the English cities to have almost complete Roman Walls. You are able to follow them around the whole city and enjoy fantastic scenery along the way. You can also stop in one of the many tiny tea rooms for refreshment on the way!




There is a lot of ruins to be seen and museums to guide you through. Unforunately, we don't have much time, but you can find out more here:

Silly question but what's the difference between pubs and bars?

Morning all! Sorry I haven't been around as much as I'd like. Wow, those recent pictures Sarah are amazing!!

You're right, the Romans did know how to build to last!! As did the Tudors!

Pubs are like the Red Lion that we went to earlier. It is more intimate and generally very traditional in style.

Bars are more on the trendy side with lots of lights, music and fancy drinks!

I am glad you like the pictures! I really wanted to show the contrasts between cities and villages of the North West (plus, they are my favourite places to be....countryside! *sigh*)

Chester also has the River Dee:

You can take a ride on the show boats or simply hire a rowing boat or pedalo!
At all times of the year, you can see canoeists and Kayakers (sp? Both?) Exploring the rapids by the bridge!

This is the Lady Diana Showboat - tours go on for approximately and hour, so we won't get a chance to do this - but a go in a pedalo, we can stretch to!

I'm much more of a countryside girl too Sar......oh a showboat. That would be fun.

You know, pedalos make me giggle non-stop.

I do miss living in the countryside, but living so close, I can drive there anytime - to see the sights and smell the clean air!

Yayi, pedalos are funny!! Especially when you see people going round in circles!!

Right, we have been to Liverpool, Wirral, Chester and will be on our way to Manchester soon! Everyone has been dancing to the Beatles and drinking and generally having fun - I hope
