This is such a trip down Memory Lane - I think the last time I was in Liverpool was for the Garden Festival, that was built on the site of the reclaimed docks. It was amazing, and I remember seeing the yellow submarine there - in its own garden, surrounded by a psychedelic arrangement of all colours of flowers plus models of the 4 Beatles!

I know what you mean!!

The Liver Building is used for businesses including trade industry. I think most of the places are to do with the trade because of Liverpool's roots as a port. There are also accountancy firms etc in there too.
I could be wrong, but as far as I know that is it?!

Here are some things that we can see at Albert Dock:

and one of the works at a recent(ish) exhibition. Antony Gormley's 'Field for the British Isles'

Mersyside Maritime Museum where you learn about Liverpool's past. The business etc that has passed through and the ways in which Liverpudlians lived!

The Merseyside Maritime museum opened in 1980 in an old warehouse in Albert Dock in Liverpool. At the museum you can explore the history of Liverpools seafaring tradition and the merchant navy. The museum also hosts a collection of shipping records in the maritime Archive and Library. Liverpools role in the transatlantic slave trade and the emigration of nine million emigrants between 1830 and 1930 is highlighted.

The Merseyside Maritime Museum is in a old warehouse, part of the Albert Dock on the banks of the River Mersey. The Museum, opened in 1980, tells the story of one of the world's greatest ports and the people who used it. The Museum's collections reflect the international importance of Liverpool as a gateway to the world, including Liverpool's role in the transatlantic slave trade and emigration. The Maritime Archive and Library contains one of the finest collections of merchant shipping records in the UK. Titanic and Lusitania (Merseyside Maritime Museum has the original shipbuilder's model of the Titanic and one of Lusitania's propellers) Visitors can
investigate the terrible history of transatlantic slavery and find out about the role of merchant ships in World War Two. Visitors can also travel back in history on board the pilot boat Edmund Gardner to World Cup Final day 1966 (Easter - October only). Visitors can also visit the Pier Master's House and Offices.

There is always the main attraction too!! The Beatles Story Museum!

You can learn about the history of the Beatles, their lives, loves and experiences!
There is also a souvenir shop so you can buy some things to take back!!
http://www.beatlesstory.com/

Then, when we are done looking there, I have booked us all on the Yellow Duck Marine!

This will take you round the historic sights of Liverpool by land and by water! I also got Ringo to chat to the driver and he said that you are allowed as many drinks as you like and food will be provided! Plus you will be stopping off at the Cavern Club and most of the bars en route!

Wow! I am loving this, and telling my girls about what it was like to be a teenager when the Beatles were first famous! They don't believe me though - I guess that is inevitable when they can't even remember the Spice GIrls! They perked up when I mentioned Cat Stevens though, and wondered why he changed his name to Yusuf Islam when he had a MUCH nicer name to start.
