If anyone wants something to eat from the Mayflower, we can give them a call and they will deliver it to us while we are on the move!! Still so much to see and do - off to Albert Dock we go!
(Sorry if I am going so quickly, but I have SO much to show you all - and two days is not long!! *phew* You can always use the Magical Mystery Tour Bus to take you back to wherever you like if you want!
)

If you look to your left now, you will see the famous Lambanana:
The (Super) Lambanana is one of Liverpools most hated and most loved public monuments. Its a lamb at the front and a banana at the back. Copied from a small plasticine model (hence the 'pinched out' ears) it now stands facing the sea outside the Albert Dock. It was designed by Taro Chiezo and stands as witness to the perils of genetic engineering.

Next on your left, you will see the Yellow Submarine is a 25-tonne structure that was built in 1984 by apprentices from the Cammell Laird shipyard, to go on display at the International Garden Festival.

I am not sure how it placed, but I have always loved it!

We all live in a Yellow Submarine

a Yellow Submarine

A yellow Submarine....

You go Ringo!!

Ringo wrote and performed this song with the Beatles! We used to sing it as school when we were little!!

Susan, as an artist myself (and a little on the mad side
) I see wonder in the wierdness!

Fran, a LOT of people say it looks like a dog, but don't get heard saying that in the company of a local!
I will let you off this time though!!

Yes, you can buy miniatures for your home - I have one!

*Susan picks Rosie up and dances with her*

In the town where i was born, lived a man who sailed the sea!

And he told us of his life, in a yellow submarine!!

We all live in a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine

When we were kids we used to sing a half a tub of marg instead of yellow submarine!
and sometimes i still do it now!!

Now, if you look to your right, you will now see Albert Dock!

Here, there are quite a few shops, bars, restaurants, museums and the Tate Liverpool.
For many years, a daytime programme, called This Morning, was filmed here by Granada TV! The weather was done on a floating map in the water - we used to come here while the programme was on to be filmed walking past the window and shouting at Fred on the weather map!! It was a big thing back then!
Plus they had their fair share of streakers!!

Of course it was me, Susan!
I couldn't not laugh at that!!

I miss Fred and his weather reports
He made it so much more fun - especially with his mad colourful jumpers!

Fred's Map

Fran, we can pop to the Merseyside Maritime Museum if you like, but we are definitely going to the Tate! If nobody minds?!!

While we are here, if you look towards the bit buildings over there *points* That is the Liver Building with the birds on top. The Liver Birds, as story goes, are a male and a female. The female faces the sea to welcome the men back from sea and the male faces towards town to point out the nearest pub! Not sure if it's true, but that's they way it goes!

Sadly, I don't believe it is
The last time I went (last august) it wasn't there, so I think it will probably be in a museum somewhere now - I hope, anyway!

Yes, Fran! It is really a weather map!
Fred the Weather Man used to jump across and tell the weather! There used to be monuments on it to show where the places were eg Loch Ness!
