Do any of you watch American Idol?

I started watching it a couple of years ago with my youngest daughter Nikki because it was something that we could do together and we always enjoy it.

Tonight was the first episode with the auditions. I think this is my favorite part of the whole show! I laughed so hard at some of the people who tried out who actually think they can sing! It was hilarious!

The one I was laughing the hardest at though, was the guy who claimed to be Toni Braxton's counsin. I thought I was going to pee in my pants I was laughing so hard!!!

Yes, Robin, I do watch it but the later rounds only. I have to say that I thought Kelly Clarkson still is one of the most talented singers. I have her albums and this latest one is the best, really.

oh Sandra! I LOVE Fantasia. But alas, I do think she is geting too caught up in what people want to make her into.... I mean when she did Summertime for the first time, I saw it live, and it was incredible. I wish she'd forget the pop and just be herself and sing like Nina Simone, Billie Holliday, and all the greats that she reminds me of when she's not even trying.

I'm like Elizabeth, and this year I'll start watching about mid-February after all of the auditions.

I liked Kelly, I thought Clay should have won, and last year I just could never get emotionally attached to any of the finalists. I don't know what it was, but I couldn't get interested.

I love American Idol. I've watched it from the very first episode. I really like Kelly. Ruben is great. I just don't hear much from him. I like Fantasia too, but I think she yells into the microphone too much. I always get a kick out of the first episode!!!

Ooh, sounds great! AI4 is premiering on local TV tonight (or tomorrow, I think), should watch out for that!

I haven't seen AI1-2, but caught the later eps of AI3. Personally, I think Jasmine Trias sings offkey, especially when she does covers of various songs. If the song is either new or quite unknown, she can sing it well, but sucks if she does her own rendition of a particular song.

Fantasia is ok, but my favorite is Diana de Garmo I think...

The national anthem got slaughtered! That Mary character was just that. What is so sad is some of these people really believe they can sing.

just got done watching American Idol. It was great. I totally agree with KittyKook... the 'Braxton' gut was a riot!! WAY to full of himself. A bit of a drama queen too. LOL I thought Mary was a bit nuts.. but entertaining. And what was with the guy in purple?? LOL LOL

Ahh.. good times!!

(Just want to add here that my 5 year old son LOVES the show, and while it ws on, he was critiqing the people auditioning, and doing his own little dancing. When I asked him what he was doing, he said, "I'm practicing for American Idol.' LOL LOL What a little honey!! He is SO musically inclined (he loves music and dance), it wouldnt suprise me if he ended up getting into some form of music or dance later in life.)

I have never watched the auditions before........OMG!!! These people are horrible!
I saw last night and yes, Mary, poor Mary needs psychological help. I'm not being mean, I really think she does.

Tonight, Simon kinda Peed me off, he told a set of triplets that they were fat. I think that that is as low as low can go.
It's one thing to tell them they can't sing, that's what they are there to be judged on but to twist the knife?!?!?!? That' just plain mean!

I've never seen past AI auditions, but some people really think they're actually good singers, which is crazy!!

How many times a week do you get AI in the US?

I'm not sure, I'm thinking that it will come on every night since the auditions were on last night and again tonight. Don't take my word on it - I was just flipping channels when I found it both nights.

Sorry but I disagree, the triplets were chunky- BUT they could have hidden it by dressing better, in looser garb and not that cling on stuff they chose to wear.

I don't think I can ever listen to Over the Rainbow again after tonight

YES!!! That was just pathetic!! I just can't believe that some of these people are shocked when they are told how horrible they are!
And what about the guy who just couldn't believe that he didn't make it? He was walking out of the room real slow and thought that they were kidding!! I don't remember his name but it was horrible!

LOL and then he had the audacity to tell the crowd outside that the judges liked him, but he wasn't ready for the big time!
