.... just kidding...

We are open today, I guess the whole point of "Everyone is off, so we have to be open just in case someone wants to buy a house, etc."

2 more hours though til I go home!

You don't get paid holiday pay?

I get to go home in... 2 and a half hours!
We can count down together!

Aw but that's better, *I* think. Not having your paycheck drastically fluctuate from month to month... more stable.

to all of you!!

I'm at work, and no holiday pay, and yes I am hourly. My next holiday isn't until May with Memorial Day.
That's the one part I do miss about teaching. Someone sneezes and you get another day off, plus winter break, spring break and a nice llllooooonnnngggg summer break. Of course, teachers definitely DESERVE all the time off with everything they have to put up with!

Movin' on up!
My company doesn't count this as a holiday but, I called in sick. I didn't get much sleep, last night and had a major stomach upset.

yep - i had off today, like Heidi and Deb stated: just another perk of working for the public school system.

As an added bonus - I just found out our school will be delayed 2 hours as we are experience close to 0 degree temps. So hooray for some extra vacation!

I'm a nurse.......and the hospital never closes. I worked today and also won't get holiday pay because it's not one of our "paid" holidays. At least things are beginning to settle down a bit at the hospital. Over the holidays....since November......we've had some REALLY sick people.....a lot of people die.....and it's just been rough. I don't remember last year being this bad. But it seems that things are easing up now.....maybe the calm before the storm.

We still haven't had any documented flu cases in the hospital yet though.....that's a good thing.

I was going to visit the school I'll be student teaching at today, but I am soo sick!

The school has off next Monday for grading, so I don't have to start my actual student teaching until next Tuesday....

I hope I'll be able to hack the full-day of teaching, 5 days a week. I also hope my friends, boyfriend and Summer can get used to me going to bed at 10 - 10:30 pm every night.
