I love the name Colin...pronounced Col-lyn...unlike Colin Powell which is pronounced Colon, as in semi colon or your intestinal colon.

I also like Anderson, but there goes the last name and Andy dilemma.

Ian..is beautiful, Ian Andrew

Cooper is a different but stately name. Cooper Andrew McFarlane

Liam is lovely, Liam Andrew..sounds like a poet.

I also love the name Chaplin used as a first name..nickname Chap, which I like as well.

Good Luck..we have probably confused you more!

I'm not going to suggest any names (Joshua/Tristan/Tyler/Jonah
) but I'm going to repeat something handed down from my mother to my sister when her kids were born.

Don't forget to look at initials when you are choosing names. If their initials form a word, make sure its a NICE word! My cousin named her poor daughter Anna Sophie, which wouldn't be bad except her last name begins with an "S" too.

I always loved the name Jeremy. Whatever you chose, I agree with you - Andrew for a middle name. It seems to go with everything!

Jeremy Andrew? With the last name having the initial M... his initials would be JAM!

Definitely keep in mind initials... JAM is cute but others might not be so cute...

These are great suggestions guys... I'm keeping a few names for myself, I like em so much!

I'm pregnant too and we've been trying to come up with names. We also immediately agreed on a girl's name (Jessica Lynn), but here are our choices for a boy:

Brandon
Daniel
Ryan
Jonathan

My personal favorite of those is Daniel or Ryan, but my husband is absolutely stuck on Brandon. Since I don't hate it, that's what we'll probably use if it's a boy. (We find out March 2!)

hehe as you are catherine...
my mums name is catherine and her sister is margaret too

Personally i like
Mark,
Samuel,
Benn
That's too funny!!! Just curious....do they go by nicknames or are they like my sis & I and go by their full names? I really don't like nicknames, I feel like if you want to call your child Kathy, name her Kathy - don't name her Catherine.....just my personal choice.

Oh - I love Samuel too! I also love Dominick and Parker and Luke....I could go on....

Wow - there are SO MANY great ideas - no wonder it's a nightmare deciding on a name!

I don't have any new suggestions, but I loved the way "Ian Andrew McFarlane" sounded! To me it sounds so - I don't know - distinguished. I feel like people would be walking by him tipping their hats as a sign of respect or something, lol!

...and I think that you're trying the names out on him while he's kicking around is a great idea. I'm sure you'll hit on something that sounds perfect - and then the minute you're holding him, you'll end up naming him something completely different.

When my parents were expecting my brother (hehehe Quite a lot of years ago!), they had no problem with a girl's name - and just 'felt' that they were having another daughter. Surprise! My brother arrived - and they didn't have a name. They couldn't agree on a name either so my brother was 'baby boy' for a few days. Finally they decided on Robert for a first name - but they still couldn't settle on a middle name. My mother wanted Ian and my Dad wanted McKenzie. They came to an uneasy 'truce' that his name would be Robert Ian. When it came time for his Christening when the minister asked what name is to be given this child, before my Mom could say anything, Dad quickly inserted "Robert Ian Cameron McKenzie" so my brother has had 5 names all of his life:-). On the other hand, friends who had determined their son's name shortly after they knew they were expecting, immediately after his birth knew that the name didn't fit and the 'right' name did come quickly to mind. So, I hope you find a name on which you both agree, and don't be surprised if you don't know for sure until after his birth. Good luck.

I tried out Marcus Andrew, but got no response yesterday.

Today was Angus Kevin, no noticable like or dislike!

Maybe this little Scot would prefer Gavin to Kevin (both from the same origin, I believe, but Gavin is the Scots version and Kevin the Irish)
