Tibby has always been pretty posessive over me and demands a lot of attention even to the point of batting Molly and I if we are cussling or playing

The thing is, recently he has been getting even more posessive. If he is asleep and Molly and I are playing, he will wake and immediately come through and remove the toy from Molly.

This is making Molly a bit wary of him.
There is a big size difference between the two of them and Molly will give as good as she gets, but Tibby appears to be bullying her from my attention.

I am worried that Molly will become more timid (she has never been timid around me) and feel pushed out

I try to make sure I spend time with both of them, but they are both highly demaning (for my attention) in different ways - Molly, emotionally and Tibby, physically. But Molly loves to play and have interaction too, but Tibby takes it away

Does anyone have any experiencs of this or have any ideas as how to alleviate the problem? I would love to hear your sugguestions!

Thank you!

Sophies like that!. If she sees Rosie on my lap getting scritches she'll jump straight up and push through which makes Rosie jump down

She was a lot worse a few months ago but not so much now. If she sees Rosie on my lap she just looks at her with an evil eye as if to say "Thats my lap!"

What i used to do and still do is if Rosie is on their bed in their room i go up and spend some time with her by talking to her and petting her even though little miss Sophie follows me upstairs

Awww, Rosie
Molly says if you want to talk, she knows how you feel!

I try to do that with Molly too - spend time when Tibby hasn't noticed, but I would love to be able to play with her too
(Tibby could hear a toy from the otherside of the country!!)

I will take your advice though and try to make sure I spend as much time with Molly - alone
- as I can!

Yes Sophies exactly the same when it comes to hearing a bell from a toy!.

Even if Tibbys there when you sit and have even just a chat with Molly, it's just showing her that she's still loved

I can't leave Sophie in another room because she hates being on her own and cries the house down until you let her out so thats why she has to be there

About a month or so. They are really close in age!

I don't know if it possibly has something to do with the fact that I got Molly as a kitten pretty soon after Tibby - but he was still a kitten too?!

Susan, Tibby doesn't get shut in another room, I just kind of sneek off when he's not looking!!
He screams and shouts when he can't find me too!!

These noisy posessive types, huh?!!

oh okay - so it wouldnt be anything to do with their ages then.

I have the same sort of problem with my two. Cedar loves to play and will be a kitten forever I am sure of it.. and I do play with him alot because Tipsy is usually sleeping... but when I try to play with Tipsy, Cedar comes and interupts as you have both said.

I unlike you am able to take Tipsy into another room without it bothering Cedar so what I do is every day I take Tipsy into the bedroom and close the door and we have a good play session without any interuptions - thankfully that works for me.

I think you are going to have to think about playing in a different room with Molly - especially if Tibby can hear a bell from another country

Is the age difference the problem between Tipsy and Cedar?

I will have to try going into a different room with Molly, but Tibby is a terror with clawing at the carpet (and anything else) if he knows I am in a different room and he can't see me!

Yeah, Tibby can hear a feather drop at your house, Danielle!!

I am not sure if the problem is the age difference - but I could imagine it could be possible if the age difference was large enough.

hmmm its a problem with Tibby being a terror if he cant see you - see we dont have that problem here at all so its easy for me to go into a different room.

Yeah, Tibby can hear a feather drop at your house, Danielle!!
hehe you know those nights when your sound asleep and Tibby starts running around like crazy???? hehe thats when I start dropping feathers and bells - Tibby can hear it and with our time difference it can really upset the sleeping patterns

I would just let Tibby in the same room as you Sarah and maybe give him something to play with so you can chat and pet Molly.

I know when i used to leave Sophie in a room when she was younger so i could sit with Rosie, once she started crying Rosie was too busy wondering why Sophie was crying and ended up going downstairs to where she was

Just you wait until you are asleep!!
I am going to give Tipsy and Cedar a go!!

He would want to play with Molly!!
I will give it a go this afternoon and see how it goes! I will let you know!

Good thing is though, that Molly is sleeping with me and Tibby is on his hammock in the lounge - as long as I don't move, we should be ok!!
