My Katie is 17 1/2 years old and weighs almost nothing! She is all bones, but she eays somewhat, walks around with a bit of a wobble, and drinks fine. Is it old age? Or does she have something wrong? So far everyone I talk to says it is normal for them to get skinny. I can't bear the thought of putting her down, especially when she seems to NOT be in pain. Any help??

7 1/2 is not that old for a kitty - they can live to almost 20 and be in fairly good health. I would take her to the Vets for a checkup.
She may have worms, or something else brewing inside. Has she been spayed? Is her decreased appetite a change for her?
Please take her in for a checkup and let us know how you make out with her.....

If I read it right, you said 17.5 right. It is normal for them to loose weight, but I would take her in for a total blood count so that they can check for anything brewing. If there's something going on, you can catch it and give her many more happy years. Most people start checking when they are around 9.
