I didn't get to post last night...had to get things ready for the first day of classes today...eeewww....

Anyway, Mittens is doing very well and he is being more active!!
I coated his pill with a little butter and it slipped right down his thoart on the second try! YAY! I also tried to weigh him last night ( I know, I know! I cheated by not waiting till Friday...) but the battery in the scale is dead, so we will have to wait till Friday...

Well, time for his morning pill, hopefully it will go as well as last night!

I didn't get to post last night because I came home straight from school and crashed--fighting some kind of cold right now.

Anyway--Mittens has tons of energy and doesn't mind meowing at the crack of dawn
He's starting to look a little different to me, but Zack says he's still looks like he swallowed a watermelon
Weigh in day is tomorrow! Have to go get a battery for the scale first though. He took his pill real good last night, but this morning was a little bit of a battle since I was in a rush to get out of the house. Have a great day everyone!

awww, poor thing...dieting is never fun...
My dog was sick back memorial day weekend-had this terrible cough and wheeze...well we took her to the ER vet and they gave her some stuff to help her breathe but they told us that her weight was a factor and that her symptoms would be far more managable if she lost weight.

I told my little furbaby that now she was officially a member of the family-you cant really be "one of us" until you go to the doctor and they tell you that all of your problems are because you are fat

anyway, extra playing and veggies helped her lose 4lbs! she looks better than we do
good luck Mittens!! (what a cutie!!)

Thanks guys! Today is weigh in day--he feels a lot better. Taking his pill this morning was a little challanging, but he finally got it down. 3 1/2 more days of it!!
I'll post his weight tonight!

Well, just got back from the house ( I go home on my lunch break)...I weighed him. He is still 24 pounds.
I guess this is just going to take time. Hopefully, we'll see a bigger change in the next 2-3 weeks

Oh no. Poor Mittens, poor you - how depressing. But maybe it's because you JUST got the cat dancer, you JUST started the diet... things take time. Don't give up!

Although 24 lbs doesn't seem like a lot, I heard someone that 1 cat lb is more like 5-10 human lbs, so it will take a while. But I have to say congratulations anyways! He seems like he is doing great! Good job Mittens, Princess is rooting for you

sounds like what my mom said about Mouse - "I guess she just takes after her mother (me!)."

Aww, thanks you guys! I didn't really get a chance to get on here much this weekend--was fighting a nasty cold and yesterday I felt tons better, I had to get out of the house!!

Mittens has one last pill left and he seems to be much more active than 2 weeks ago. I keep forgetting to take up Watson's food, but as soon as I hear him getting in it, I run to the kitchen. I think that's the hardest thing because Watson doesn't eat his food at one time, so I have to stand over him and make sure he eats what he can and take it up so Mittens doesn't eat it. I am sure that's how he gained the 5 pounds since we moved in August!

My parents came over Saturday night and they had a blast with them both!
Mom says that Mittens looks about the same but is definitely more playful! Don't worry guys, we are hanging in there!! Keep those prayers, vibes and thoughts coming for a successful weight loss!!

Don't really have any news today...but Mittens did finish his last pill last night. His appetite is in full swing, so I have to literally stand over Watson while he eats so the cat doesn't run up to his bowl. This is a lot harder than I imagined. Instead of posting everyday, I'll probably just post every couple of days, but definitely will post every Friday for the weigh in. Thanks for all of your support!

Question... isn't there anyway you could isolate Watson or Mittens while it's dinner time for Watson? Say, feed Watson in the bathroom or take Mittens into the bathroom and distract him by playing with his cat dancer or something? Maybe that way Watson wouldn't feel so pressured and Mittens would try to eat his food?

Just a thought.
