Ok, sorry guys...I have been down with an upper-respiratory infection....

Mittens is still holding the weight at 22 pounds! Better than gaining! I am cutting a little more back on his food starting on Monday. We should start seeing a little change here in a month or two!! Keep those fingers crossed!

I'm so sorry to hear about the cystitis. He looks Exactally like my Tigger! tigger weighs 19 lbs and I just got yelled at by my vet,in my defense I just got him a year ago and he has lost a lb and he is big boned ,his paws are bigger than any cat I've ever seen ,So Mittens and Tig can go on a diet together. I swear they were separated at birth!

Oh My Goodness!! How have I not seen this thread till now????

My Abbey got to be 23+ lbs at one point. We had tried Purina OM and Science Diet m/d with little luck. We switched to Science Diet r/d, but didn't see success with that until we cut the portions WAY down - now she (AND the other 2 cats) gets 1/4 C dry + 1/3 Can wet - divided into 2 meals.

When I make their meals up I feel so guilty b/c they look like such small portions, but the vet says it's ok - and she is down to 16 lbs now!!!

Even around 18 lbs, jumping on the bed no longer takes 3 tries.. and she enjoys chasing (& fighting with) the other cats - she just seems cranky near meal time.

Logan had been up around 13 lbs, and the vet said he needed to get down to 10 - and at his last vet visit he was! But now I am trying to supplement his meals so he doesn't continue loosing weight - so now we give him an extra tablespoon or 2 of fancy feast to hide his heart medicine.

Anyway, keep it up, we have been working on Abbey's waist-line for about 2 years now... sometimes it takes a while to find something that works.

See,, I find this interesting. Recently our 20+lb tabby was sick and in the vet...not once did he mention anything about being over weight. And if tehre is something this cat wants, he can jump 4-5 feet in the air no trouble. He has a cat tree perch that sits about 4' high and he jumps right up into it.

How long is your cat? Ours is 36" long from head to back foot when laying down on his side.

Oh, I don't know. Normal length, I guess.

I cut back on his food today to be around 3/4 cup for the whole day. He walked away for a little bit and guess who ran up to his bowl and ate it... you guess it-Watson! Ugh! So, I had to give him a little bit more. So, today doesn't count...blah!
