My BIG boss gave me a birthday card today...birthday is tomorrow though. He handed it to me and said this is for the birthday girl! Happy Birthday!

My loud mouth opened up and said "It's tomorrow though...."

Ugh-
I did say thank you and he walked off, I think, feeling a little dumbfounded.

After I opened the card--might I add--had a fat cat on it!

I ran into his office and gave him a hug and thanked him!

I felt like I shouldn't have corrected him in such a tone--but I did hug him for the card...

am I being a little overdramatic about this situation? Or should I write him a thank you for remembering my birthday--even though it was a day early.

Don't feel bad, Candie, I do things like that all the time! You know, he's probably already forgotten about your little slip and just remembers how happy you were to receive his card. A thank you note sounds like a great idea!

I would send a thank you note! I've never had anyone at any office I've worked at remember my birthday so a day early isn't that bad!

If you ran in and gave him a big hug he knows you appreciated it. He's might be just a little embarrassed that he got the date wrong but the fact that you showed your appreciation is all that really matters. Don't worry about it.

I think the hug and big thanks you gave him should be enough, he knows how you feel, and just make sure when his B-day comes around that you get him a card

HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow

Aren't you glad this is an online forum, else you might have to hear us sing. And I'm sure some others on here are just as tone deaf as I am.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU< HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU<

Send him a gracious thank you note, and let it go. He may have thought you'd call in sick for your birthday, and didn't want you to miss your card, you know?

Don't worry much about things, just be appreciative. He was really cool for remembering your birthday...some bosses don't, or if they do, they don't give cards. So it's all good...

But make sure you find out his birthday...and get him a fat cat card, too.

Best-
Michele

Sorry I'm responding back to you so late, you probably already made up your mind, but, yes that is what I'm saying.

I always felt if I thought to do something and wasn't sure whether or not I should.....I won't do it. Cause somethings telling me not to, know what I mean? Happy Birthday BTW.
