dry heaves

Hi,
Has anyone had a cat that just before she goes to eat, gives a dry heave, then starts eating? Mine does this once in a while, and I wondered if this is normal.

I havn't heard of cats doing this right before eating. They will sometimes do this if they are trying to get up a hairball. Does she do it every time?

I only noticed her do this a few times, and only just before she is about to eat. Sure is odd. She never throws up hair-balls.

I wish I could help you more. I am unsure of the right before eating part. Maybe she just gets a little excited and gets too much air. As stupid as this may sound, maybe she doesnt like the smell of the food. I would keep a record of how often she does it. This way you can see if it leads to something.
