How many times a day/week, etc do you brush your cats?

I am really anal about pet hair in my house...so we brush both cats twice a day usually...more if they are shedding badly. I also lint roll atleast once a day in their favorite napping spots and throw the blankets they lay on in the dryer a few times a week to get the hair off....

I *try* to remember to do it once a day, but sometimes I get a bit busy, and only do it a few times a week. They're all shorthaired, so it's not a huge deal, but I like to try to keep the shedding down, and plus, they enjoy being brushed.

If Franz (Long Hair) could have it his way he would be brushed/combed every hour on the hour...I settled on 2-3 times a week.

Maddie (short hair) who only tolerates brushing, get a quick once a week. Sometimes I can sneek in two times. I seem to give Her more petromalt than Franz since she spends a lot of time grooming him...Franz is wonderfully spoiled, two women at his beck and call!

Once a week... my kitten has short hair and doesn't like being brushed. I might try to brush her twice a week, but she'll never let me do it daily, and definitely not multiple times throughout the day!

I have eight cats and they all get brushed once a day. I also vacuum them once a week. Six of them absolutely love it, two are getting used to it.

My two long hairs get brushed several times a day - they absolutely love it and in fact join me in the bathroom in the morning and wait until I pick up the hair brush for my hair. Then they rub against me and trill and bug me until I start to brush them. That is the signal for the other three to come running. They are short hair so they don't need as much brushing and usually only get brushed once a day. I use a flea comb as well even though they don't have fleas but they love the feel of the comb as well - especially around their faces. Talk about ecstatically purry cats!

I also deep vaccuum once a week but use the hair/lint brush during the day as well and carpet sweep in between.

Rosie won't tolerate me brushing her so i have to walk behind her catching a quick brush on the way but mainly when she's shedding.

Sophie is just one big love bug who will let me no problem but as she's a short hair i don't do it that much, although i will when she sheds as well.

Paige thinks someone grooming her is torturous, so I tend not to groom her all that often, normally get it out of the way with the claw trimming.

Ghibli won't sit still long enough, but he's currently not shedding.. And I do get a few strokes in when I can

Molly tolerates the brushing, but she's short haired, sooo

I do mine once a week. They're all shorthaired, but I use Petal Cleanse lotion on them, because of my asthma and brush them before they get the soaking to remove loose hairs. The tabby and white produces more hair than they Burmese, they hardly lose any at all and I never have to remove hair from clothes, furniture etc, because they never seem to leave any. But when I chose my cats short hair was a prime consideration - it had to be if I was going to be able to cuddle them. Our old cat, Sophie had very thick hair, even though she wasn't a long haired cat. She left white hairs all over the place and unfortunately gave me bad allergy symptoms. I didn't know I was allergic to cats until I had her. She was never a lap cat though, bless her, but it was probably just as well.

Vacuuming them would probably be pretty useful, but they disappear into hiding the minute I start doing the carpet, so they have a hairy fit if I tried to do them!

Mine are still fairly young that hair hasn't been a problem. I'm semi brush them a few times a week...they still rather play with the brush. I haven't seen hairs in the house yet, but I have seen a few on my dark clothes, but still very little.

wow
you're really anal about it
I think twice a day is too much, but that's my view.

we usually brush every week, on weekend. i have about 4 different brushes i used on marsh and go over him inch by inch. I also use a freshening spray.

on top of this, we give him a bath every 4-6 weeks, he's all-white

but i agree with you in lint rollers. I used one dilligently on my bed covers, where marsh's sleeps, on my clothes before i go to work, it seems to work wonders.
