Hey

I went to lunch with a friend at a local chain restaurant. Well, about 4 hours later I started to feel nauseas. It isn't full on food poisoning where you wish you were dead...but I don't feel well. I did manage to have a small salad for dinner so i know i am not far gone, but now I am running a low grade fever, it's like 99.8. I am woozy and tired.

What should I do? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks. I feel bad reporting them since I can never be certain, but I didn't eat anything else all day. And I suspect them too cause they had new owners and they seemed really distracted.

I've personally never had any trouble. Check out the link ^ for signs and symptoms. Also, if you do suspect the restaurant, a government agency (health department?) should be told. You can report it at this link: http://www.rusick2.msu.edu/

Hope you feel better!

orange juice and sprite mixed in a glass of ice 1/2 and 1/2 sip very slowly it does settle the tummy

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Marge doctors always say here to not eat for 24 hours to let your stomach settle and to drink bottled water, it's what the vet tells me to do if the kitts have an upset tummy as well.

Hope you feel better soon because food poisoning is nasty!.

Under the cats, mostly.
The restaurant needs to be informed, because otherwise if it carries on like this, they could find themselves being reported left, right and centre to higher agencies, organisations etc by other people suffering the same. If that happens they could find themselves at the centre of quite a pay-out
Certainly someone needs to stand up and say so - if they have all the proper qualifications in food hygiene, this sort of thing shouldn't be happening. They might be new owners, but the mistakes need to be pointed out. Anything that is not cooked properly will cause food-poisoning, someone preparing food who doesn't wash their hands, preparing meat and veg on the same chopping board without it having been cleaned properly or using the same knife... you've no idea the infections and viruses just simple little things like that can spread. If it was any one of those things, it needs to be sorted out. What happens if someone comes down with Ecoli? Salmonella? Nope... needs to be put right.

I hope you start to feel better soon sweetie

Are you sure it's not the flu?
Food poisoning starts with weakness, stomach cramps, dizziness and vomiting.
Anyway, hope you feel better soon.

I'm sorry you're not feeling well. I had a wicked case of food poisoning over the holidays. The only thing you can really do is wait it out and if you start to lose a lot of fluids (I'm trying not to be too graphic here...) make sure you start drinking a lot of water, tea, etc. BTW, nothing should be too hot or too cold, it's a shock to your stomach.

I have had severe food poisoning along with several mild bouts. The mild bouts may feel similar to the flu but along with the nausea you will have abdominal cramps and diarhhea. With severe food poisoning, you will have both, virtually non-stop and will require medical intervention. The treatment, if any, will depend on the type of food poisoning involved, whether it is bad food or if there is a toxin being produced such as botulism. Whatever it is, it is not nice. I was sick for 10 days and was not allowed to 'eat' for another week to rest the system. I 'sipped' small sips of broth and that was about it. It also took several months before I was able to digest milk or dairy products again without cramps. So, if your bout doesn't resolve within 24 hours or gets worse, seek medical treatment. A doctor will also be able to differentiate between food poisoning and the flu.

I do hope you are feeling better very soon.

Kathryn
