This is a very easy program to use, and is freeware: www.irfanview.com
You can do some resizing right on the photobucket site - hit the "edit" button, and it will give you the choice between 75%, 50%, and 25%. You have to log out for the change to become effective.

AaaaaaaaaH THAT's why it "didn't work" for me. I only tried it a couple of times. Never realized it was necessary to log out for the change to work. I'll know another time -- though I've only ever tried on Photobucket when I was being too lazy to go back and do it properly

altho i've done some resizing w/photobucket, i usually resize mine in paint before i upload them. here's what i do:
open microsoft paint
open photo i want to work on
select all
move to the bottm right corner using scroll bars & move the mouse around till i get the resize arrow (diagonal)
drag the corner to the upper left until the pic is tiny
move the scroll bars back so i can see the pic again
resize more until it's where i want it
copy that
open new document & do not save the changes to the original
paste into the new one
name that one & save
upload new little photo to photobucket

sounds complicated, but actually doesn't take that much time!

Don't be embarrassed - I'm such a "computer idiot" that it took me about two months to figure that out. You also have to log out for 10 or 15 minutes - logging out, and then logging in immediately afterwards, doesn't seem to work. I can rightfully be accused of "muddling my way through things".

Nothing wrong with "muddling", Tricia -- I find it one of the best ways of discovering what something will and won't do. I'll remember that bit about not just logging right back in, too -- which will likely mean that I won't bother trying to resize on Photobucket, because the whole point of trying it was to save the time involved in going back to my image editing software and uploading again --and THAT sure wouldn't take 10 minutes.
