Well my sister thought it would be a great idea for our parent's 50th wedding anniversary coming up in August. There is a local seminar I can attend on Thursday, but that is not as good as getting real advice. Who has gone, what time of year, cruise line/cruise ship, room location, side trips, where did you leave from, what did you visit, length of the time. You know basically everything!!
So any advice again would be great as time's a tickin. Plus my mom doesn't know how to swim I don't know how she will like the boat. Dad was stationed up in Alaska during the Korean war and would enjoy going back.

We SOOO can't wait to go on an Alaskan Cruise. We're saving up for it as part of a big holiday we're doing - Alaska/Canada/US in a few years.

So I can't help you out with any info - but i've spoken to many people who have done one and NO ONE has had anything bad to say!

Hi Gail!
I think that is splendid. I happen to work for the creator and now Chairman of the Board for a major cruise line that services Alaska. If you want, send me a PM and let's get you hooked up with some info and a booking agent that will listen to your questions and get you the best rates, if and when that time comes. I can supply you with a toll-free number that you can have to talk to the most senior of agents and cruise planners. I would be honored to assist you. While I can't provide bennies to ya (only if you marry me
) I can provide some good assistance that hopefully would be invaluable.

Brilliant!

We went on a short cruise when we lived in Alaska. It was breathtaking and very cold. Tell them to pack the warmest clothes they have.

Can your children go for free? Do you want to adopt me? I'm potty trained. And I'd keep my room clean...
I'd
to see Alaska.

I went on an Alaskan Cruise a few years ago. We left from Vancouver and cruised up the coast and toured the region then back to Vancouver.

I went withCelebrity Cruises, on their Mercury cruise ship, and their service is 5-star. I think the tour was the "Hubbard Glacier tour" and is 7 nights. I stayed in a Premium Ocean View Stateroom which is a "Veranda Stateroom".

Amazing food, spectacular accomodations but somewhat pricey. If you have the budget for a higher end cruise I highly recommend booking with Celebrity! If you can get a room with a balcony splurg on it. It's really nice to be able to sit on your own little piece of outdoors and take photos or spot animals with binoculars. If it's an anniversary present your parents could enjoy some champagne or snacks out there and have some private time.

The cruise I took was near the end of the season (beginning of september) and it was definitely too chilly to swim. I had a balcony off my suite and while cruising up the coast the weather was nice and the view was spectacular. Once we were up in Alaska you really needed a fleece to go out onto the deck or on shore.

Good luck planning the trip!

OH ROFL Sheryl!

No, nobody ever goes for "free", even our Chairman pays unless it's soley for him as a gift (he just celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife on the Mexican Riviera), and let me tell you -- it's very hard taking 2 weeks off these days. We have cutbacks like everyone else and a lot of us do the jobs of three people....but seriously, people bring their cats, dogs, turtles --we get more than just celebrity entourages, we get entire jungles!
