As Mabby has been getting older I have noticed that she doesnt run she hops, and she kinda has the frame of a bull-dog....like her legs seem like they almost turn in a bit, and he back is kinda hunched...so when she walks she looks "tough" like a bull-dog...here i kinda have a picture of it for you to see...it is very subtle

I always thought it was kinda cute...like she was one tough cat....but recently I was talking to a friend of mine that rescues ferals, and she has a cat with crossed eyes, and bad hips (cutest gosh darn thing), but because of the bad hips the cat (Tippy) has back legs that kinda point out........so I guess I am just curious whether she might have a shoulder or back problem....or I guess possibly she has a bulldog relative....lol

Bridget, sounds a good time for a vet visit and an exam, and while you are at it, if she hasn't yet had one, a senior blood panel...give her system a total checkover!

I don't know why, but you do need to find out why she is now hopping, and is hunching..rule in or out arthritis, or hip dysplasia, or ?

ROFL! Can you tell I didn't recall the age of your kitty? I just was reacting to your saying "as she has gotten older",
anywhoo...glad you are taking her in, won't hurt to have a professional look her over!

L.S.'s hind legs are nock-kneed, pigeon toed, and bowlegged. He doesn't bend his hind legs when running, he swings them out to the side. It hasn't caused him any problems, but I will bring it to the vets attention when I bring him in closer to May for a checkup when he turns a year old. I can't tell if there's something unusual with his joints. Or if his bones formed odd from a lack of good nutrition.

I fostered L.S. from my shelter (and kept him, of course), and when I got him he was a very healthy 5 and a half months old. I doubt he had come right off the streets, but he exibits habits of a starving alley, so I think at some point he wasn't in good shape. I also have this nagging thought in the back of my head that he may have fought off distemper as a kitten. (I fostered another kitten at Thankgiving who was unbelievably ill. When I took her to my vet, I found out she was the same age as L.S., but was half of his weight and half his size. She turned out to have distemper, and she was very clearly dying, so I put her to sleep. She looked exactly like L.S., like they were clones of each other. While that isn't much to go on, their behavior towards each other was amazing. He kept making these noises and kept trying to comfort her like he knew who she was. I really believe they came from the same litter, and while he was lucky enough to survive, she wasn't.)

Needless to say, he looks a lot like a Husky because of his stance and his size.
