Saw this story today and was wondering what some thoughts were on this.

I'm an iTunes user and was before I bought an iPod... and I did not buy an iPod BECAUSE of iTunes...

The things people will sue over these days...

I don't think so...

All I can say is: what a jackass! There are other online music subscription sites. This idiot chose iTunes. If anybody wants to point the monopoly finger, let them point it at Grandaddy Microsoft. It's about time that Apple got some of the recognition it deserves vis a vis the iPod. I am hoping that great iPod sales will help Apple be able to bring down the prices of their computers.

What a dopey lawsuit. I can't believe he even got a lawyer to file it--well, okay, I can, but if he had come to ME with it, I wouldn't have filed it. There's no legal basis for this suit--Apple doesn't have a monopoly. There are other music services and MP3 players out there.

You know, someone pointed out to me something that I just remembered: before I got my ipod, I got a Rio mp3 player. It came with iTunes and because I found it handy, I used it. And it was compatible with iTunes...

Based on this paragraph, I could see it if he were suing because after purchasing an Ipod he found that he was being forced to download soley from Itunes, but not the other way around:

Quote:
In the past Apple has aggressively pursued those who had provided a work-around to Apple's FairPlay DRM to let songs purchased from other online music stores play on the iPod. Last year it also blocked technology from music rival Real Networks Inc. (RNWK) that made downloads from its online music store compatible with any other portable media player, including Apple's.

Right... but that's not even close to the case because not only is iTunes free and comes with the iPod, but you can download from wherever you want to, move those songs to iTunes and stick it in the iPod.

I know we're both sayin the same thing, I just wanted to clarify.

how tragic... He has no impulse control. He was coerced... now lets sue everyone involved to make him feel better. <--- Note sarcasm.

He can always choose to listen to the radio - that is what I do!
