Gasp, don't say such a thing! I can't get enough of her... she DOES look like a princess
... and you say this breed is rather small? She looks so teeny and delicate... but I guess she's not?

When can I come and visit?

ooh Ari - she just LOVES visitors! My daughter was 18 a couple of weeks ago - that's coming of age here and the big party night as birthdays go - it means you can legally go to the pub and buy a drink
. So 8 of my daughter's friends were at our house waiting for the minibus we'd arranged to take them for a meal and an evening at a nightclub - it was waiting to round them up at the end as well (LOL!!). Lily was SO happy to see these visitors - they were all cooing over her and she just lapped it up.

In fact, if a person ignores her, she has to go and investigate them to find out why!

In terms of being delicate - she can certainly hold her own. She escaped into the dining room and found Adelaide the other day - there must be at least a 10lb difference between the two but Lily just stood there arched her back and growled. She refused to back down.

She is just about the most precious little creature I have ever seen. I have never heard of her breed, but now I really want one. She is just darling.

What a little love! Well then I'm definitely coming to visit...
Is she a lapcat or more of a "okay pet me" cat? I read that her breed isn't much for staying on the floor? That and they're very curious!

So she doesn't get along with Adelaide yet? Glad to hear she's not letting her size get in the way!

Thanks Hope - she's just about the best birthday present I could imagine.

Ari - I think lap-cat would be restricting her a bit. She's a lap, shoulder, feet-when-your-walking-by, head-when-your-sleeping cat.

The other night I woke up about 3 am because I couldn't breathe - I opened my mouth to take a bit breath in, then realised why - Lily was perched on my nostrils, getting ready to curl up, purring away to her heart's content. She really loves to be under warm things as she doesn't have much fur (Singapura's are very short haired, it's quite fine too), so she crawls inside your bathrobe, sweater or anything else you're wearing.

Curious? Well that isn't the word. The other night she decided she just had to see what was in the alcove above our fireplace - it's about 6 feet off the ground. So she decided to climb up the bricks like Spiderman - we had to go and fetch her down and she didn't want to let go. So in the end, we had to empty the ornaments out of the alcove and put her in there. She was happy then - because she knew what was up there. There isn't a place in this house she hasn't sniffed now!

I looked her breed up on the net, and they have a very interesting history. They were like wild street cats in Singapore. It said that the autorities treated them as vermin (which I can't understand at all), and that they had basically destroyed the entire breed, excpet for 2 from the same litter, plus one from another litter, and that the entire breed today is decended from just those three cats. Even though the breed as we know it today, comes from the US, it was really hard for me to find a breeder in the US, but miracle of miracle's, I found one, right here in the Los Angeles Area. It was actually the only US breeder I could find. Now, I have a feeling these precious little cuties are really expensive. The breeder didn't list prices. It looks like I'm going to be saving some money, because I'm as obssessed with getting a Singapura, as I was with getting a Bengal. I got my Bengal Simba 1 1/2 years ago.

In terms of cost I think it depends what you want the cat for - clearly much more expensive if it's to breed than just as a pet. Lily's father was imported from the States and the breeder was telling us it's about £6000 to bring one over (about $11,000). Lily is most definitely not going to be bred - we agreed with the breeder that she would be spayed. We may show her though - we haven't decided yet - we've never done anything like that before. But Lily's "sister" (same pedigree, different litter) was Best of Show at some big UK cat show (I've never really followed them so I don't know much about which one it was), and the breeder is hoping that we'll show Lily as well - she says that Lily is at least as good as her sister.

Lily was a fraction of the cost of a breeding animal. I have to say she's wonderful - we've always had cats with "issues" before (all our other cats are rescue moggies) - Lily is COMPLETELY different.

I just want one for a pet. I wouldn't breed and I don't have the time or money to enter a cat in shows. Gosh they are just so adorable.

Beth - Is Addie still at the vet? Didn't she get spayed yesterday?

Addie's home and she's fine. She was spayed - again!!!! The vet made a little incision (she's only got one stitch) as it was thought possible she could have been done previously - and she had been. So poor Addie went through all the trauma of being bundled into the carrier and she had no bits to take away. She was microchipped though whilst she was there.

God, I'm so in love. She looks like a little pixie. I just can't get over how adorable she is. In one way she reminds me of my Bengal Simba, because he also has huge eyes, but he doesn't have that little tiny pixie face to go along with it. She is just simply the cutest little creature I have ever seen in my life.

Do you remember those Big eyed pictures from the 80's? She also kind of reminds me of those pictures also. I absolutely HAVE GOT to get a Singapura.

I saw your Simba on the page with the pictures of Bengals - he's simply gorgeous. I know my daughter would melt if she saw him - she loves cats with markings like his.

The breeder had Lily, her mom and her aunt indoors when we went to collect her. They were so small and gentle, but very assertive - I swear, if I had no other cats I'd have a house full of Singapuras! It might take some time though - their litter size is only 1 or 2 cats at a time.

I have a few more pictures but I think I'll pace myself loading them up - you poor guys will be on Lily overload
