As Catholics, we always leave ours up until Ephiphany - January 6.

Today is the Greek Orthodox and Ukrainian Christmas so those folks would probably leave their trees up longer than the rest of us.

My husband is Dutch and his family (in Holland) celebrate their Christmas (St. Nicholas Day) on December 6 (which also happens to be my husband's birthday). Some Dutch (Fresian - sp?) celebrate December 5.

Mine's still up, because I was in the hospital and unable to be here to take anything down. My mom is coming over tomorrow to dismantle the tree and the other Christmas stuff I have all over the house since I am still on bedrest. the cats have pretty much dismantled the tree 'for the most part', by chewing on it and picking out their favorite ornaments to bat around, but mom will dismantle it the proper way!

I am going to have some friends over this weekend to remove the stuff I put up outside. I was in such great spirits and so dang healthy when I put up all of these decorations, and now that I'm down and out, i can't put them away! So someone else will have to.

Under normal circumstances I remove everything the weekend after New Year's, so I guess I'm still on schedule.

We used to leave ours up until a week or 10 days into January. Now however, I have no tree. It would have been down the day I put it up. Amber and Boris would have made sure of that

Sorry, I meant January 6th, not December 6th. Most Christmas decorations get put up on December 24th, and are taken down January 2nd or 3rd.

I have yet to take mine down. The ornaments and *most* of the lights are off. lol But I just haven't been able to take it down yet. It's such a pain in the butt. And since we live in such a tiny apt. I leave it in my nan's basement while not in use.

Which meansssss... that I have to take it down, clean out my car so it will fit, drag it out to my car, put it in, drrive to my nan's, take it out and drag it it down the cellar steps!!

I feel as though it would be easier just to throw the stupid thing away!

Next year I think I will get a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. Clean up would be much easier.

I saw more decorations yesterday downtown, I must admit I liked it being there this late! But I think by next weekend is a bit much, it's MLK weekend and a sort of time then to dive into the new year.

Our tree came down last weekend. I had given up putting the decorations back on every morning (the ones that the cats kept knocking down or pulling off) and started collecting them in a basket. When there was no more room in the basket the tree had to go. The branches were all crazy anyway. It's an artificial tree and somehow the cats had managed to unlodge a few of the branches. We found them in the back corner along with a bazillion ornaments. I found some unique ornament clips on deep, deep discount after Christmas and purchased 8 boxes of them. I am in high hopes that they'll make the ornaments and lights much harder to pull off.

When I was a kid and we lived in Germany, I can remember doing the same thing!! OH, and leaving our shoes outside our rooms

I hadn't remembered that until I read your post.
