Not sure if this should be in behaviour or here, but assumed as it was to do with food then it was more appropriate here. Feel free to move it if I am wrong!

Despite the fact that I don't have a dog, I keep dog chews in so that I can feed the Homeless' dogs.

Anyway, yesterday, I walked into my lounge and Molly had found them and was busy eating them (as best she could). I have tried to hide them, but she continues to hunt them out, get into them and eat them. She has done it before - a long time ago when she met a dog in the house - but she hasn't done it again until now.

I was just wondering if they are bad for her? I am not going to feed them to her, I just want to make sure that she won't become ill from it, as even when I find the perfect hiding place, she will eat the bits from the floor....

I couldn't say about them being unhealthy, but I would worry about a choking risk. Are you talking about the rawhide chews? They get kind of shredded and I would think there's a risk of a piece getting caught in her throat.

It isn't raw hide, it is a chewy soft kind of chew that shreds into small pieces.

Having eaten some, she didn't show any signs of choking, but I will certainly keep an eye on her, thank you for drawing my attention to that.

I have put the chews in my car until I can work out a safe place for them.
