My bf and i are due to leave to our new home by tomorrow evening.
I must admit i am going to be sad. Not just leaving my family. But having to start fresh again in another city.
I will miss the Frankfurt Skylines, but i do hope that i will be down here as often as possible so i dont miss them too much!
I hope my financial statement becomes clear so i dont have to worry about it too much.
I really do hope that my mother goes into rehab, with all the stuff that has been going on she is bound to wake up to her self and go.
and i definetely really hope that i pass this year with top grades for my final years of school.
I will really miss being on TCS for that mean while.
As soon as i arrive i will be ordering telephone/internet but that can take up 6 - 8 weeks

I noticed that i wrote Hope a few times in this thread but i reallyy really really need support from the invisible thing next to me so i can keep on going strong. But she just isnt there anymore.

As for the car ride, it will take about 2 hours to get there. Does anyone know how to settle down my kitty so he doesnt meow so much?
I'm scared he wont like the new appartment.
ah im so stressed!

i Hope you all have a good new year and a great time

Aw, sending vibes your way sweetie. I'm sure you'll be fine... no, fantastic in a new city! And try not to stress - everything always works out. I hope you're back online soon - you'll be missed!

Sorry, I have no advice on how to keep your kitty stress-free, I can't even de-stress my own cat!

Good luck!

For each of my 4 girls... car rides are different. A carrier is the best way to go. I prefer to sit in the back with the carrier, so that my girls can clearly see that I am near by. I also talk to them while in the carrier in the car, so they hear me more then other noises.

Mystyc is fine with car rides, she just goes nuts if she's in a carrier. If she's not she will sit like a lady beside me on the front seat. I hate doing that though.

Myth... As soon as you can get her stuffed into a carrier, she starts stressing. Moving her from a town about 2 hours away to here was interesting. She meowed almost the whole way. I'd even gone to the vet office and got some tranquilizers for her to keep her calm. They suggested I just keep them on hand, rather then use them right away. (not sure why the gave them to me in the first place.... I should say GAVE(for free) since they sad not to use them right away...) I didn't use them. I threw them away.

MyRage... She's okay with car rides for the most part. I got her at 6 or 7 wks old, and had to drive 2 hours to get home. She cried for most of the ride. I felt so horrible. She was taken from her mom, and her sister, then stuck in a car for a 2 hour drive. She's not to fond of car rides at all.

Shady... She's mostly fine with car rides. We took her a lot of places this summer while she was younger. Hubby wants her to be a .... um... take places cat? I guess? (Eye rolling here).

For the most part, just let your cat know you are there, and talk to her in a calming voice, she is a girl, right?

no it is a boy but he does very much look like a girl because he is so skinny and fussy.
When i first got him he was in a cat carrier but he hated it so i got him out and placed him on my lap. he calmed down a little bit it took us yeah about 2 hrs to get home too.
That is what i might have to do also again to get him out of the carrier and have him on my lap.
I was thinking of sprinkling cat nip in the carrier But i highly doubt it will relax him in any way.

thank you for the vibes guys i will miss you all dearly

I don't know the background to the story, but I am sending you HUGE positive vibes!!! I can hear your heart breaking, and Hope IS there to support you against the invisible thing next to you. You are doing what you need to do, and thus you are strong.

And look at it this way - you'll be so busy getting set up in your new apartment, getting things done in a new city - the time will just fly by, and you won't even have the chance to miss us at TCS. Spend lots of time with your kitty, it will be even more difficult for him, because he doesn't even understand why he has to leave the territory he knows so well. Explain it to him - it'll make you both feel better.

If you want to try keeping him in the carrier, make it snuggly - something with familiar smells, especially his own. Then shred some newspaper and put it towards the front of the crate so he's got something to hide behind. Bring a catnip toy - the catnip can be very calming. It's always safest for the kitties to be in a crate, but if he cries, what is there to do? We let one kitty at a time in our laps, but we ALWAYS have them in the crate before any doors get opened. Make that a rule.

When you get to the new place, make sure he's got places to hide. Some kitties make themselves right at home. Others take quite a while to adjust. Let him go at his own pace. But if he's scared, he'll want something to hide in or under, and don't try to force him out. Just sit with him, maybe talk to him or read to him. He'll do things at his own pace, and that will make all of you happiest in the end.

Best wishes,

Laurie

When we moved into our new home, Tuxedo was out exploring things in 15 minutes. Lazlo took several days to appear, and several weeks to begin exploring, and several months to get really, really comfortable. So don't be scared if he seems scared - it's very natural and normal. It has nothing to do with his love for you.

Good luck hon--you are going to be fine, better than fine. We'll miss you while you're waiting for your Internet connection, but when you come back to TCS you'll have lots of things to tell us about how well you're doing in your new city, I just know it. We'll all be thinking of you!

Things will be better now, hon! Take care of yourself and get situated..I hope you find yourself allowed to work, And I also hope you do well in school. Good luck and don't be a stranger!

As for the kitty, I prefer to fill the back half of the carrier with diapers for any.. problems, plus, they're soft and kind of cuddly. I also suggest taking something you wore the day before, and putting it int he carrier as well.

Under the cats, mostly.
Fwan, I really do wish you all the very best - I sincerely hope that this will be everything you could want from it. You deserve better than you've had so far in life and this is a new beginning and a chance to put the past behind you. I hope you make the most of every opportunity that comes your way and I wish you all the happiness in the world girl. Good Luck!

Viel Glück, fwan! Look at it as a beginning, full of opportunities. We'll miss you here, but maybe you'll be lucky and it won't take quite that long to get your Internet connection. I don't know if you're aware that t-online has a DSL special that runs till the end of the month - you two might want to look into that.
Teufel is young enough that he probably won't have too much trouble settling into your new home. Show him where his litterbox is, and let him explore at his own pace.

Yeah we have t-dsl at the moment well here.. but it is very expensive (excuse the pawing at the screen from teufel)
We plan to join with Acor because its 20 euros a month, free phone calls 24/7 to home lines and 20 euros for unlimited internet good offer i must say but i dont know when it will last. My bfs step father has it and they love it!
When i joined t online DSL nearly 2 years ago now, it took about 6 weeks to get the line up, then when the line was up the modem was broken and we had to replace it. and that took another few days.
But i will sure look into t-online and Acor and any other providers to see which one is most suitable for us at the moment.

Danke Schön Tricia, Ich gehe in eine schule für deutsch learnen. aber nicht jetz..... When i get my license because its in dortmund and i dont really want to use the train!

My brother-in-law has Arcor, and hasn't made any complaints, other than about getting a lot of spam. I have AOL, which is cheaper than t-online, and I've never had problems with emails not getting through, or not being able to go online, like when we had a t-online account. I just thought I'd mention it because of the special.

not being able to go online? really?
we have only had that problem twice, but they both have been past 12 am (because most people sleep at that time) and they were updating their data base.
I havent had any problems with T online.

I cant have AOL as i dont have a credit card.

In total for internet and connection fees it is 70 euros for us, and i think that is a little bit too much because when you start calling automatically the bill raises up!
So it would be nice to see that our internet and phone bill is under 100 euros for once

Thank you for mentioning though

Do you know any other places where they have good offers at the moment?
