Licking the Curtain

Hi,

We have two adult cats - one male and one female. We live near the ocean and have base board heating under our bedroom window. A week or so ago we noticed one then the other cat licking the curtain. They each do this regularly now. We have lived here with the same curtains for over a year and this is new behavior. The male has also recently begun licking and chewing on the finial of a small brass lamp. Does anyone have any clues about this behavior?

Just a guess on the curtains..no idea on the finial. Since you live near the ocean the cats may be attracted to the curtains due to the salt residue. Again just a guess.

I'm going to say salt! Cats tend to licky salty things. You may have salt residue on your cutains, that is my guess! LOL
