If you have an old cell phone, you can donate it to "Cell Phones for Soldiers". The phones are sold for recycling and the cash is used to buy phone cards for our troops overseas. The phones can be dropped off at any Liberty Tax service office. In addition, you can get $20 off of your tax preparation. For more info:

Bill and I have three old phones and there is a Liberty Tax office, right around the corner. Nearly 40 years ago, I was a little girl, whose father was in Vietnam. I would have been thrilled, if Daddy could have called home. Lately, I've been tossing my loose change, $5 and $1 bills in the phone card donation boxes around town.

I don't know if this is available in Germany. There are links, on that website, to donation sites though.

Thanks for posting this. We have a bunch of old cell phones sitting around and I looked up Liberty Tax Service and there is one a few miles away so I will take tham all over there. I've also sent the link to a bunch of other people I know.
