How do they celebrate new years where you are right now?

I am from nyc and they celebrate new years by either going to times square and waiting for the apple to drop or going to friends houses and waiting for the new year to come in with lots of friends ect. I now live in Louisiana, not by choice, and they celebrate it by getting wasted and shooting fire crackers(which scare the heck out of my cats , and even guns in the air), Is your place as abnormal ?

I believe getting wasted is what people do in most places unfortunately.

Nope. Not abnormal. We usually run commercials about "what goes up must come down," meaning bullets. My ex used to open the front door and blow his high school trumpet for a few minutes. I don't know how many neighbors would come by the next day and ask what the caterwauling was about. He was not a good trumpet player at all in high school, and as he's aged, he's gotten worse.

Here at my house, this year I am celebrating with Nyquil. I suspect I'll be fast asleep once the New Year's rolls in. Which is good, when you've got the flu.

Here in my town.... We have a "First Night" which is a bunch of different arts like plays and dances that people go to and then at midnight there is the fireworks.... We also have all night skating for the kids and teens then there are the bars and places like that.... Last but not least, is the people that want to celebrate quietly at home with pizza and pop.

Depends what turns your crank. It's certainly possible to go out and get wasted, and lots of people still want that. But I think it's less popular than it used to be. There's now First Night, an alcohol-free outdoor celebration of the arts, for those who want to party with a crowd, but sensibly. And house parties happen, too, but less ridiculous than in the past. Many people are like us -- just staying in with no more than a few close friends, having a pleasant but relatively quiet time, welcoming the new year with a toast, and calling it a night not too long thereafter. I don't THINK we get fireworks -- I'm just trying to remember previous years -- just as well if we don't, with kitties in the picture. Public transit is free after 5 pm on New Year's Eve -- until sometime in the wee small hours -- so it's easy not to take a vehicle out.

Huge New Year's Eve party and the Dragon Hill Lodge. Mix of music in each of the different resteraunts and the ballroom. Really great party. They take pictures and stuff. Only thing I miss is not having fireworks.

hah, people here get falling down drunk - which is entertaining when there are lots of blokes in kilts - and then the pipes start to play at about 11:45. They have the traditional countdown and when the bells chime you grab the person closest to you and get a new year kiss. Then everyone links hands to sing Auld Lang Syne. You'd think that the Scots would think of a more cheerful song than that... but there you go

From what i have realised from here is that people throw fireworks ourside their house and drink champagne.
we went down last night ot look at the fireworks and we bumped into this couple who the other day their car wasnt working and my bf offered to help.

They invited us up to where they live.
which is accross the street.
but they all ended up being over 27 i certainly didnt feel very welcomed though because not only because i was young but because i dont speak german well.
Well for my bf was fine, he drank half of their bottle of Pitu and then we went home haha.
but everyone at that party was very drunk.

But last year i had my best friend over from australia and we went out to do the fireworks and came back in fora glass of champagne and then we went to bed!!
