Ther is a girl at work that keeps standing over me, in my space, (I hate that) at work. She is a nice enough girl, but she has a cold. I finally ran over her foot with my chair yesterday to get her off of me, because asking did not do it. I have a scratchy throat this morning.

There is a new "med" on the market called "Cold Shot". Its for those people like cashiers and teachers have to deal with sick people all day. A friend of mine uses it and claimed it reduced her colds by about half.

When our daughter was born I talked to our doctor about having people with colds around her. He said the germs were in the air and we carried them on our clothing into our homes and that if she were going to get a cold it would happen and there's little you can do about it. On the positive side, if a child gets a number of colds they are building up their immunities and that's a good thing.

I agree people should wash their hands, use tissues, etc., but no need to go overboard.

Money probably has more germs than anything else we could handle and I honestly don't mind handling money!

when i worked fast food in school the customers were soo digusting, they would hand me wet money out of their shoes, bras, sneeze all over everything, etc. They would send their sick kids with snot dripping out of their noses to pay for stuff.. it was no nasty. I'm suprised I didn't die.

At Walgreens there is a remidy called "Air Borne" that is supposed to keep you from catching a cold or lessen it's severity.

Is this available over the counter or do you need a doctor's prescription for it?

No not a big store like Wal-Mart. It's more like a big drugstore. They have a photo department, snacks, etc. too.

I have always understood that the cold virus is contagious - it is not carried in the air but by touch. So if you touch something in a public place like a metro handrail or a piece of paper that has been infected then you pick up the virus. Of course if someone sneezes all over you that can do it too!

True. Phones are also one of the worst.
