Hello all... I have a 8 year old American short hair that is starting in past few moments to pull her hair out... her arms are bald and her back is becoming bald also and recently Lesions are forming on her back by her tail, I am planning to take her to the vet Monday to see what it might be but I was hoping maybe someone could tell me why she would be doing this? the only thing thats changed in past few months is the addition of two new cats, 1 kitten and 1 fairly old (fiance moved in)... below is a list of what she is doing

1. Pulling hair out with her mouth
2. Very aggressive to the other cats, even ones shes lived with all her life, she was never aggressive before... last night she cornered the kitten and bit her face drawing blood... something I have never seen her do in all her life
3. Lesions are appearing on her back... dont appear to be scratches or bite marks
4. loss of weight... she was fairly plump but now seems very skinny...

any help would be greatly appreciated. my e-mail is [email protected] and AIM is XxAdoniasxX... thank you=]

Have you changed her food?

It may be ringworm...

Do you have extra litterboxes?

Are there food dishes for each kitty?

How were the kitties introdused?

I guess that is enough for now... sorry so much.

Oh, Welcome to TCS

Have you changed her food? - daily

It may be ringworm... - Vet on Monday might give answer

Do you have extra litterboxes? - 3 litter boxes

Are there food dishes for each kitty? - yep, 5 dishes

How were the kitties introdused? - we had them seperated for few weeks but let them "talk" through the door... even played togethor under the door by whapping at each others paws

Added: the "Lesions" might be caused from the hair pulling? they dont seem like ring worm lesions and the hair loss is going up along her spine either from her pulling it or from something else... thign ringworms is just patches missing

Sorry I meant have you changed the brand of food? It could be stress from the new kitties, a food allergy, flea allergy, or some type of illness. Please keep us posted as to what your vet says!

If you can, post photos of your kitties. We love kitty photos!

Cats rip out there fur when they are stressed and or big changes have happened.

Our old cat Tippy ripped out his fur a couple weeks after we got a dog and moved. I took Tippy to the vet and the vet said he was stressed and depressed and he was sure it was because of the new dog and because we had recently moved.

I found this funny, My vet Tippy a shot of prozac. It worked really really well it was like he got a shot of happy! LOL! It lasted a couple months. And he was fine since then.
