Lorie, I hope snowball gets some relief & quickly. Went through this many times with Smokey because of her CFR. Has the vet tried an enima? Not a pleasant thing, but it usually does the trick. Luckily Smokey only had to have 1, other than that a couple days of Lactulose always did the trick.

About an hour before Snowball's vet appointment we finally got some results from the hairball ointment (not Laxatone). These results were smallish and hard, so at the veterinary clinic Snowball got an enema(sp?) a bath, fluids under his skin, and an injection of meds for pain. The vet said Snowball behaved quite well during his treatment, and should be feeling much better now. I was told to give him some Laxatone every day until I saw normal looking stools two days in a row, and then give it once a week. I really hope this was the only enema(sp?) he will ever need.

Thanks for all the responses, and I'm sorry the subject of this thread was kind of gross.

Oh, it's not gross! I'm glad Snowball is better
. This thread has been educational for me because I've not had a cat with this issue before (except George as a wee baby had to have an enema a few times) so I will be watching for this as they age.

Poor Snowball - so undignified to be given an enema! But I am pleased it seems to have worked and I hope the improvement continues.

So pleased Snowball is back home with you Lorie

And don't worry it's not gross. I could have cartwheeled around the room when Sophie's poop was back to normal after she'd had an upset tummy.

I'm glad to hear Snowball is feeling better. It's not a gross topic. but just something pet owners have to discuss sometimes.
