An important thing to note. You will probably have 2 or 3 stitches in your belly button (that is normally where they go through). Make sure you clean the area properly. Mine ended up infected and made a more visable scar (still very small, but the infection was painful).

I've heard that. Great......I'll probably be passing gas all through the procedure!

Sending calming vibes - along with "legs take her there" prayers!
Did the valium help??

Maybe pick up some peroxcide or Polysporin to apply to it daily. Recovering from the infection was my worst part of the experience!

Not that kind of gas...

It's more like air they use to blow up your belly to get a look at what they want to see. The air seeps through your body and can be a little painful.
When I had my tubaligation they did that and the air seeped into my left shoulder and it hurt. But I think tylenol is what they told me to take for it.
It's been over 21 yrs. so I can't really remember, you can ask them what you can take for it. Not saying it is definitely going to happen, but if it does you will want relief.
Otherwise, GOOD LUCK!!

The valium should help, that's what it's for.

Some other drugs cannot be taken before any type of surgery
(like blood thinning drugs)

I never had any infection problems with the incision in my belly button or the second one a few inches lower.

Yup - the gas seaps out over a few days. Also ask for a pain prescription (or advice on over the counter medications) before you go in and have it waiting for you when you get home. Frankly, I had heard such bad things about the gas, but didn't feel a thing after mine (I was medicated).

About the gas, my mom had to deal with that when she had her surgery, that was the only thing she complained about!

You will be fine. It will be worth it to get some relief. Just remember that!
