So this is another why is Emmet a strange kitty thread.............. I think its best if i start just excepting this stuff instead of yapping to you guys about it....lol

ok so here is the jist.....Emmet has been very adventurous now he comes out with company and is the life of the party...this is a fairly new thing.....but there is a catch....hes only brave around Male company...the minute there is a female in the house that isnt me...he runs for cover, and wont come out untill at least an hour after they leave....so whats the deal???
Is he shy around the ladies???, is he a big old mommas boy, or is this some kinda past scar against women??..(his original and abusive owner was a women)...or maybe he can see our cooties....lol....just wondering....thanx

It is very common for formerly abused cats to not like the sex of the person that abused him. He is exhibiting normal behavior for a formerly abused cat, and I think he's shown a lot of progress just by being a "momma's boy," let alone being social with other people!

My friend's cat, Twiggy does not like men. Her roommate found Twiggy on a local college campus and it turns out the cat belonged to a male frat. The cat was declawed, abused by the guys, then eventually "kicked out" of the house. You can probably figure out that it was nearly impossible for her to catch food, having no claws.

Luckily, my friend's roommate took Twiggy in and nursed her back to health. This was before the roommate moved in. The cat has since "claimed" my friend as hers. Apparently, I'm a different case, as she warmed up to me, but for most other guys, she runs and hides.

Truth be told, she warmed up to be before I brought Dakota home. I've only had Dakota for closing in on 2 months now. Maybe I smelled like a cat person even though I hadn't had any cats yet?

Yeah animals are quite empathetic in my opinion...ya know they can see your soul or something...they know that you are good and that you would do nothing but love them.....
My parents dog loves everyone...like completly blindly loves everyone, except for a person i used to hang out with. She would bark and yelp and cry anytime he came in the house......i should have listened to her because he turned out to be a major psycho ...like closing in on Norman Bates crazy...no lie...lol...but thats another story...

My boys are great judges of character. If they don't like soneone, they bear watching. I have a friend that most people find very scary and intimidating, and doesn't hate cats, but is just not much of an animal person at all. He is a great guy, and a wonderful friend to us. Scooter is crazy about him. When he comes over, scooter sneaks up behind him on the couch, snuggles down next to him, and purrs like a diesel. He will roll over on his back and beg for tummy rubs. At first my friend did not really care for this, but the last time he was here, I saw him relent and rub Scooter's tummy. He has decided that Scooter is cute and will pet him openly. It is so cute to watch.
