hi!
one of my cats "sunshine" siemiese has very dry skin on her back. i took her to the vet and she got a lion cut. she looked so cute and was quite excited. well, after a while her hair grew back and now the flakes are back. i have tried special vitamin oils and brush her daily. i also changed her food 2xs and put vitamin drops there too. nothing has works. the vet says to take a hair dryer and brush them off. well as many people know she is a simese and do have tempers. the first sound of the hair dryer and she runs.

suggestions from anybody would be helpful. thanx miss k

Sorry I don't have any easy answers for you. Sounds like your vet doesn't think the flakes are a problem though.

The only thing I can tell you is if you bathe her, use a couple tablespoons of vinegar in a couple gallons of water to do a final rinse. It helps with skin pH which could cut the flaking.

Have you tried Avoderm food? It is a food with avocados in it that is supposed to be better for cats with skin problems. Or you could try a food with only simple ingredients, like California Natural that would reduce the likelihood of it being an allergy. Other than that, giving a very high quality canned food would be my best guess, since they are higher in protein and fat. Becky

You could try giving cod liver oil. I have a cat who's a bit dandruffy; she has half a teaspoonful every two or three days and her skin is in very good condition. She thinks it's a treat. I say "Milly, time for your medicine" and she runs into the kitchen and cries until she's given the oil!
