Porn spam with a twist

OK, this is just plain WIERD!

I get a lot of spam at work, and although it's only a few now (instead of 20 per day!) of porn spam it still comes in occassionally. I went to clean out my Deleted files (I have the message rules set to send specific addys that are the main spam culprits to the Deleted items) and the bottom one was one of *those* spam messages. Well, there wasn't an image loading that I could tell, and the text (plain text, not HTML) was about living a Christian life, etc. And then the image came up... It was *VERY* explicit!

Now why in the heck would porn spammers be sending a Christian message?? Go see these hot chicks doing things your wife wouldn't dream of, but really think about your actions compared to Christian values.

Strange...

Now... ThAT is horrible. Hiding behind a Christian disguise(SP?) To make people look at Porn? ICK!!

I think I may have gotten one of those over the weekend. It's amazing how they change their procedures to make certain their SPAM gets through to it's target.

I hate spam and popups.

Weird. Oddly enough, I haven't gotten any spam at all for months - AOL's spam and pop-up blocker must be working extremely well now. That's one reason while I'll probably stick with them, even though they donated to the Bush campaign. (Just joking - had to "get back" at Heidi for deciding to shop at Wal-Mart).

Spam is the biggest complaint I have about my ISP. Virtually everything gets through. You have no idea how many emails I receive on a daily basis for prescription drugs, Rolex watches, mortgage refinancing, special 'prizes', etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum. One would think at the price I pay for cable service, the company could include a couple of perks, like a decent Spam blocker.

I am sure it's the shock value too.

Think of the demented hacker in the dark designing the spam, so
they probably got a laugh at making it look Christian.

Well, what doesn't get caught by our forwarder, which isn't a great deal, does get caught by our ISP. Telus's spam filter is excellent. I have it set so that everything still comes in, just in case they trap something that's not spam, and then filter what they trap into a separate mailbox, so that I don't have to deal with it until I'm ready to. When the service first came in, they caught a couple of things that weren't spam, but they have never not caught something that was. Now I just look at that mailbox every few days, to make sure nothing real is there, and dump the rest. It's great.

NO I DON'T want a Cheap Watch~ and I don't want anymore fancy spam either, unless it comes in a can and I can spread it on crackers!

The Washington Post has an article about AOL and spam today, so I'm obviously not imagining the drop in spam: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2004Dec27.html

The e-mail that I have with my ISP is fantastic...no spam.

Hotmail has improved significantly for me. It's the e-mail account that I use to sign up for sites first to test their spam policy before I even change it to my ISP e-mail address.
