Cindy and Fawn got their threads last week or so. I didn't have any new pics of Sooz, 'cuz she keeps presenting the same one over and over. But we have a theme now. Used to be that Suzy's claim to fame was being a little martyr, but not lately. Lately she's becoming the companion cat. Specifically Rob's companion. It really was starting as early as these, on Rob's printer, which I have posted before...

and these, squished behind him on his computer chair, which you've also seen...

but now she's leaving the safety of the study to follow Daddy to wherever he needs her companionship -- which at the moment is the livingroom (while he nurses a cranky back)...

She even goes there to wait for him...

and is mellowing rather sweetly lately from the grumpy "don't touch me" kitty of not all that long ago.

Thanks, everyone. Glad you like our little sweetie. She IS a sweetie -- very reserved, shy, not long on self-confidence among her peers -- though that's improving.

For a long time after her littermate Samantha disappeared, she was home only briefly every few days, and not interested in interaction with humans. We were pretty sure she was still looking for Sam. Then, as if someone had flipped a switch, she was home. And the mellowing began, ever so gradually. Now she doesn't slink around anymore, but goes where she wants with her tail held high, and only swears at Cindy, if provoked. AND -- she's really becoming Rob's companion. She'll take a few scritches from Mum, too, and give some licks back -- ever so sweet.
She doesn't even fight me when I pick her up to give her a new collar -- being picked up is NOT one of her favourite things, so we try to go easy on it.

Maybe now that she's more confident, she'll present some different pics, and her Mum can show her off some more

There's no place like home
pssssst.....Fran......I have a secret to share with Rob........he can pick Sooz up and place her in his lap on the computer chair.......ROFL!!

What a beautiful girl she is - love the sworl patterns on her side.

I know 2 cats that have the same general markings as your Sooz, my Tigger and a friend's cat Pixie. Both are on the shy side, both have their selected "human" that they bond with. Hearing about Sooz, I wonder if there is a reserved brown/white tabby trait happening here? Very curious.

She has been known to get in his lap. In fact I have some pics of that, but I think HE wouldn't be pleased if I posted them
What often happens is that she's lying on the printer, and when she's sure he's staying put, she gets up, and stands right at the edge of the desk. That's his cue to pull forward in the chair, so she can snuggle behind him. Go figure!

Yeah, she's our "pretty kitty"

You may have something there. My old lady Shasta, who had no white on her except for her chin, did have the same classic markings, was not as painfully shy, but definitely reserved, basically a one-person cat (Mum's girl), though she'd take a scritch or a lap from Rob. There's enough similarity between their personalities that Suzy has inherited Shasta's nickname "Kittipuss" -- it just fits.

So, a few more milady has allowed
...

HER chair -- and with eyes open, even...sorta...

and then she let me move in...

but that was it! That was when she said, "Enough, already! Every time I open my eyes you flash that THING at me! I'm going to sleep!" and promptly covered her face with her paw.
