Hi I've got a new kitten few weeks ago when he was 7-8 weeks of age and hes now 9-10 weeks and he's name is Ed. His body has silver I think white and grey and has masks around his eyes and stripes on his legs.. He loves to play rough and bite me and others and he doesnt like to be alone and he would curl up and sleep on my bed.. Well he still bites and wants to play with me at bedtime.. why is this a problem? Can you please help? Is he maine coon? His brothers and sisters were all black and short except Ed. Ed is medium haired. My aunt got him and gave him to me. Well I am getting other cat from my Best Friend for late Chirstmas gift which I knew as secret.

Hi and welcome, congrats on getting a new kitten! He sure does sound like a cutie... not sure if he's a Maine Coone or not, pictures would help though!

Are you concerned about his biting you, or are just wondering why others think it's a bad thing? If it's the latter, it's because as he gets bigger, it won't be so cute when he bites you when he grows up and so you would want to try to stop this behavior now. As for stopping this, you would just try not to play with your hands with him, tease him with a toy instead... and if he keeps you up at night, don't play with him and eventually he'll get the hint.

I'm sure others will come along and give their advice, but I thought I'd try to give some of mine! Anyway, welcome!

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Hi, congratulations on your new addition to your family! He sounds so wonderful! It would help us to determine if he is a Maine Coon if you would like to post some pictures of you baby, we'd all really like to see him!

Your kitty isnt a maine coon because if his brothers and sisters are short haired they are most likely domestic cats

My kitty looks like a tiny panther, so i think they should have the "pantha" breed for all cats who are black and look like predators

I hope you have fun on this site

My kitty has tore my hands up because of playing he is 14 weeks old now and his bites are getting too hard for me to handle. Dont let him bite your hands at all use a toy or clothes instead

Hi, welcome to TCS!
I'm not sure about the answer to your question, but I'm sure you'd get lots of help in the behaviour section. And it sounds like everyone has already covered the Maine Coon part. Ed sounds like a cutie, and another kitty, how exciting!

WELCOME TO TCS

my Tipsy was a bit of a biter when he was the same age as Ed - hmmm actually did I say a 'bit of a biter' - let me correct that - he was a TERROR

however we got him neutered and viola - he is now the most lovable cuddly boy - rarely bites or scratches. You will find that Ed will calm down a lot after he is neutered

Welcome again from me & my boys :wavey

See that might solve your problem with Ed. They certainly sound very cute and oh my two from the same litter can be a lot to handle but fun!
